Hi RB. I have read a few of your posts over the last couple of years regarding RM. Apart from your hatred of him for getting shot of Tilly, what is your beef. Genuine question.

I don't really hate RM- just a standard run of the mill capitalist ....

what upsets me is

1/ RM mugging off of Tilson and a load of decent guys who kept playing for no money

2/ the schmucks on here who buy/bought the club is broke bollox -

3/the schmucks on here who insult me -

would the extra income from not being in the bottom division for 4 seasons not outweigh the benefits of cancelling player contracts?
Are your statements based on anything other than your reading of the situation? Genuine questions.

The first money arrived at start of first league 2 season -

I assume RM could do the sums -

This is one of the reasons his theory doesn't make sense. Plus the big drop in attendances for being down the bottom, a massive loss of income for the club.

uuuummm- I thinks its all about the wage bill ..................... by the time RM had stopped paying wages and told you lot we were broke he was and is quids in

For the avoidance of any doubt on the insults front: Schmuck or shmuck in American English is a pejorative meaning one who is stupid or foolish; or an obnoxious, contemptible or detestable person. The word entered English from Yiddish (‏שמאָק, shmok), where it has similar pejorative meanings, but its original meaning in Yiddish is penis.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] Because of its vulgarity,[SUP][3][/SUP] the word is euphemized as schmoe, which was the source of Al Capp's cartoon strip creature the shmoo.[SUP][4][/SUP] Variants include schmo and shmo.
In Jewish homes, the word was "regarded as so vulgar as to be taboo."[SUP][5][/SUP] Lenny Bruce, a Jewish standup comedian, wrote that the use of the word during his performances in 1962 led to his arrest on the West Coast "by a Yiddish undercover agent who had been placed in the club several nights running to determine if [his] use of Yiddish terms was a cover for profanity."[SUP][6][/SUP]

Edited for accuracy.

Now we are improving our training ground, that would make it attractive for better players to sign for us in future.

The word Schmuck used by a wum.

wum

It is an acronym meaning Wind-Up Merchant.

It refers to someone who posts on message boards and newsgroups with the intention to cause as much disruption as possible by goading others.
He's a WUM, just ignore his posts.

The 5 million you keep banging on about was received in the 2009/10 season, the league 1 relegation one. Lets repeat the same thing over and over until it becomes true shall we?

Thank God we are back in league 2 and making millions every year, I mean it isn't like attendances are down since being in League 1!

I guess you are one of those people who take comfort from the fact most people agree with you - you can try thinking for yourself tho

I do think for myself thanks. I'm happy to discuss absolutely anything to do with the club until the cows come home but it doesn't mean I agree with them. People are entitled to their own opinions, as you are with yours (I specifically mentioned this on another thread).

But it's quite open to anyone who is looking... RM has hardly ever been what you might call "quids in". The fact that he lives in a big house in Benfleet and drives a nice car doesn't equate to wealth that it his. By borrowing against everything he has, he is using leverage to improve his position. Leverage works in a rising market and can be effectively used to make tons of money. However, we haven't been in a rising market and as someone said elsewhere, credit has barely been available.

If RM had any money at all, it would have been used long before now. The fact that credit is now more easily available doesn't mean that we're in the money in the same way that if someone gave you a credit card with a £10k limit, it doesn't mean you have got £10k.

I think he has planning permission for a big greenfield site and a deal with a major retailer for a town centre site -

I might be exceptionally thick but I do think he could raise a few quid on that ..... in fact looking at the way its going i think he has raised a few quid on it...

If you want to believe the club was/is broke and Sturrock saved us from oblivion - enjoy. For me its been a complete charade because of the value of enabling Roots Hall development and the value of planning permission on a greenfield site - simply a winning hand.

re structuring to allow for slightly reduced gate money is simple ...... particularly when you acheive zero outgoings by binning off players and manager on lge 1 money

Yeah he must be relieved to have gotten rid of players on a free who could have commanded decen transfer fees. So we had zero outgoings in the first season in league 2 then? Apart from all those players we signed and an ex Prem manager, those are expensive right?

So he has lowered the wages because of the lower income, all part of his plan right? Makes sense, I mean if he was making money from that then surely he wouldn't give the manager a bigger budget for the next season, no don't be daft.

Not sure if you see the irony in insulting anyone that doesn't happen to share your opinion, and at the same time getting upset if people insult you !:dim:

I guess you haven't heard of the expression 'treat others as you would like to be treated yourself'

yep - he was broke-ish in lge 1 - but during the course of the last season there he must have been negotiating with Sainsburys and have known when first funds/credit facility/whatever would delivered.... .....

Not paying players, manager, taking the club down a league was small price for the BIG one with the nations favourite grocer....

For all we know now he might be doubling his money with penalty payments from sainsburys and big wadge from a cheap skate rival.....

Never ever was SUFC, Roots Hall, planning permission on a greenfeild site all tied together be anything that a winning hand ... and SUFC with its popular political clout in the town is what makes it all hang together..

I have been explaining the same thing to you, and only you it seems as you seem to be the only person who fails to understand it, since 2010.

We borrowed in total 5 million from Sainsbury in 2010.

This was AFTER we built up a tax debt of 2.2 million pounds which we had to pay just to remain in existence. After other bills were paid we then ended up with 1.8 million left, which was then used to run the club, and lo and behold we didnt have any financial issues for around 18 months , when that ran out and we suddenly had wages issues again.

The only time we werent "broke" was when we had that 1.8m to use, but it wasnt our money, it was borrowed.

Tilson was harshly treated, no getting away from that.

The club has been broke, its has been for years as it had no cash, that was defines being broke. Having to borrow 5 million from Sainsbury to pay bills and just to survive is being broke. Borrowing against a property doesn't mean you arent broke, it means you are in debt.

The fact you fail to grasp such a basic concept is a little schmuckish in itself.

cut costs to the bone - clear out all liabilities (players contracts) - downsize everything maximise the margin for when

the money came thru in start of league 2 ......

He could have cut all the costs he did and remained in league one and still receive the extra revenue from being there.

Your theory is somewhat flawed.

Could you define the term schmuckish?
Is it a racial term?
Is it a common expression?

Did we ?? Or did we merely take an advance payment for something we had contracted to sell to them ?

What were and are the terms and conditions relating to the transaction ? I don't know, you don't know.

To an extent, I think the future of the club is predicated on the detail of the contracts in place between Sainsbury and various Roncos. We/he might have got very lucky with Sainsbury's apparent cooling off .... or there maybe problems a plenty in the pipeline.

Until things became clear, speculation, whilst it might be fun, is largely pointless.

We must have the only football chairman in all the leagues that doesn't come out with a statement, after 2 major things have just happened.
