but you can borrow 180k against your house and drive off in a ferrari - even buy yourself a footballer..

controlling - not owning Roots Hall is the cash cow...

Could do, then I would be 180k in debt and have to pay it back every month making myself financially worse off every month for 25 years. The money I would then spend wouldn't be my money, its borrowed.

And hey, wouldnt you believe it, if you check our accounts we have a debt of over 10 million on our books, so SUFC have already been borrowing against the property to ensure we could pay the 2.2 million tax bills and other running costs for the last 5 years.

You are correct in one thing having a property does mean you can get access to cash by borrowing, but that doesnt mean you are not 'broke'

Having to borrow money to survive does not mean you are not broke, it proves you are.

If I was having to borrow money against my house to buy food and pay my bills then that would be pretty good indicator I was indeed skint, which is what we have had to do over the last 5 years.

anyway i actually think RM was right all along - he just had to play very dirty (not pay certain people) to hang on until the first money arrived.

SUFC - and us the supporters are RMs lever to get planning and a done deal on RH. I remain convinced he wanted relegation from league 1.

keep the insults coming ..

So lets get this right, he wanted relegation from league 1 and has, in your words, assembled a massive expensive squad with a premiership manager to get us promoted.

A little contradictory eh?

yep - he was broke-ish in lge 1 - but during the course of the last season there he must have been negotiating with Sainsburys and have known when first funds/credit facility/whatever would delivered.... .....

Not paying players, manager, taking the club down a league was small price for the BIG one with the nations favourite grocer....

For all we know now he might be doubling his money with penalty payments from sainsburys and big wadge from a cheap skate rival.....

Never ever was SUFC, Roots Hall, planning permission on a greenfeild site all tied together be anything that a winning hand ... and SUFC with its popular political clout in the town is what makes it all hang together..

Everything on this site is about opinions I guess. You have yours but are in a minority of one, I think.

Sorry I must have missed something, why was it better for the deal with Sainsbury's if we were relegated that season? I know you mentioned that before.

At first I thought you were serious and then I read the line about SUFC and political clout in the town. :hilarious: Thats a good one !

cut costs to the bone - clear out all liabilities (players contracts) - downsize everything maximise the margin for when

the money came thru in start of league 2 ......

Of course some people think he just rang up sainsburys and everything was sorted out one afternoon and couple of weeks later a cheque came through the door

Hi RB. I have read a few of your posts over the last couple of years regarding RM. Apart from your hatred of him for getting shot of Tilly, what is your beef. Genuine question.

Do you mean the vastly reduced sum of money along with a very real chance that we would go into division 5? What you're doing is making the actual circumstances fit your version of what has actually transpired. You're not giving any thought at all to what may have happened if a) we had stayed in L1, b) the stadium had progressed sooner, c) we had been relegated out of L2, d) had someone other than Sturrock been appointed... e) and so on. The list is endless.

To be honest I think that's what most people think that you think...

He only went in for a bottle of L'oreal and came out with 5 million quid... Who else but Ronnie (thought id add a Family Guy tilt)

This is one of the reasons his theory doesn't make sense. Plus the big drop in attendances for being down the bottom, a massive loss of income for the club.

would the extra income from not being in the bottom division for 4 seasons not outweigh the benefits of cancelling player contracts?
Are your statements based on anything other than your reading of the situation? Genuine questions.

Why not just be happy that we are still solvent and are now having some good news,I can see now why Aussies gave the English the title " WHINGEING POMMES ".
