There is an alarming amount of Rangers fans who truly are imbecilic bigots. The fact that he played for Irelands youth team would have made him a target regardless of performance. I'd take absolutely no notice of any "feedback" from north of the border. That club is an absolute joke with a huge number of "fans" constantly fighting evolution.

Sadly it's all about religion (faith) or what ever you want to call it. Rangers fans want to be part of Britain and Celtic fans don't. It's nothing new, it's been going on for hundred of years.

Not every fan or person is like that though, I'm guessing you're reading some sort of social media.

Very pleased with this signing. Was very disappointed with our midfield displays at back end of season but with a strong defence behind them this season it will enable them to play a bit more. We have a shaky right back, a dodgy keeper, so we desperately needed another quality player next to Ferdy who was terrific last season. Injuries will tell if the team can cope with square pegs in round holes, i would like to see a ball winner in the centre of midfield, not a big fan of Lenny but we'll see. Very optimistic for the season.

Not at all...I've lived in Glasgow though....it's very sad, but it is what it is. My only point was to ignore any rubbish posted on Rangers boards about Kiernan

Sorry, what do you mean?

Just wondered why you don't like Celtic because of the sectarianism, but hope Rangers win the League?? Both sides have huge issues with bigotry and sectarianism.

Not trying to start an argument BTW, and have no idea of your background, but many people here will not know what Glasgow's "football" culture is like.

I've genuinely never spoken to any other Rangers fan in person or online who had a problem with this.

We had a player from Ireland in the seasons before Kiernan, Jon Daly, and he's held in high esteem by our support for his efforts and professionalism.

People were really positive and supportive of Kiernan when he first arrived. Criticism came directly as a result of his performances and as a symptom of the failure of the manager who brought him's project.

In amongst some glib criticisms, there's still a decent amount of fans who wish him the best of luck and don't hold grudges about his time not working out.

And I agree with you. I've been to Glasgow many times and love the City, great place and very friendly people. Sadly, there are a small minority who have logger heads because of the Republican and loyalist divided and it's through football. Sad really considering we're a country that should be united.

No, you seem a fair and intelligent person, who wouldn't move in those circles, I'm not for a minute suggesting all, or even most, Rangers fans are like that. But I'm sure you'll acknowledge that they exist.

Agreed - it's probably not one for this forum...but I find Glasgow really odd. I love it, don't get me wrong, but it's as if a large percentage of the younger generations are still mentally fighting somebody else's war. Children are still being born into an atmosphere of hatred and bigotry but without really knowing why? And the massive media power of the 2 football giants just escalate the situation. Other than the obvious stronghold areas around Belfast and Derry, Ireland seems to be moving on from
it's history better than Glasgow is.....but then football isn't everything in Ireland.

I apologise. Looking back, I could have put it better. I'm an Ex Soldier and had a coffee Jar bomb thrown at me in the early 90's where I served for two years. I wish both parties would get on and not use football towards that hatred

I know what you mean. I lived and served in Londonderry. I loved it and I'm so pleased that both parties have sorted out there problems for now and living together in peace. Another great City and I HOPE I helped in some way......

What a terrible comment. You Sir win's the stupidest post I've ever had the misfortune to read.

Yep. It's up there for me too. Perhaps the althorne shrimper has never had the opportunity to go sailing off the coast of Somalia to encounter the pirates, go for a short break in an daesh stronghold in Syria or take his kids to a pig farm in Colchester.

Scotland is a great country with great people. Not all of them like the English, but clearly why should they with comments like that?

Anyway, welcome Rob Kiernan. He was excellent last time he was here. Playing alongside Anton I think he will settle in and get his career back on track.

I think we can definitely agree on that

Can we keep this on the topic of Rob Kiernan signing please! Anything further off topic will be deleted.

pleased with the signing of Kiernan. He looked great when he was with us last time and there's no reason to doubt that we will be even better now.

I remember one absolute storming game he had...I'm thinking Chesterfield away in the cup when they were top of the league.

Better?
