The comments on the Rangers forum and Twitter from their fans is disgraceful in all honesty. We've had some truly awful players leave over the years and not once have we ever reacted quite like that lot. No wonder Rob wanted out. His face obviously didn't fit with their fans and I can imagine what it must have done to his performances having that lot on your back and completely smashing your confidence to bits.

Regardless of what any Rangers fans say, there's a hell of a player in there and I trust Brown to get his confidence up and nurture him back to being the player that Fulham wanted to sign for £2m not long ago.

Hoping we all get well and truly behind him and give him a proper welcome at Roots Hall. Welcome back Rob - fantastic signing.

We've assembled / assembling a very good squad here. Worries over fitness with certain players but if everyone is fit then we really can be a force this season.

Bravo Phil and big props to Ron this summer

Remember Rangers fans beat up the dad of one of their own players for the crime of being a Catholic.

Wow. No words.

Never seen the appeal of playing for Rangers/Celtic. It all goes far beyond football up there. Didn't someone once send Neil Lennon a parcel bomb?

Just had a pretty crap day at work with sickness affecting the business.
I get home to find home made shepherds pie, the wife in a good mood and then Rob signs for us.
oh happy day

]He has been training- just not included with first team trips for friendlies etc[/B]. Tbh at 26 and given he is a CB I would imagine that whilst he might be a bit game rusty fitness wise what he has done should me he is OK.

PB will have a good look at him in training tomorrow and go from there. Would imagine its 50/50 for tomorrow he plays- would not be surprised to see JW

Not what he says

R. Kiernan is a massive upgrade over Thompson & he also played at full back for Wigan as they made the play off in their Championship days & joined Rangers after Wigan got relegated the season after on a free.

Just one question, would we have signed Turner if we could've got Kiernan in then rather than now?

Yes....We needed two CB's anyway and Kiernan was on the shopping list before we signed Turner.

We had the opposite problem to Sheffield United. We were trying to sign a player with one year left but trying to reduce his wages rather than double them.

Hi Guys,

I'm a Rangers fan. Thought I'd provide a bit of info on Kiernan's time with us as I saw all 76 games he played for us in the past two seasons.

Just to address a few things in the quote above. We have quite a large and diverse fanbase, as is often the case with social media it normally brings out the more extreme expression of opinions. In the stands, our team have had great support on the pitch in the last few seasons.

There isn't a case of his face not fitting or his confidence being shot by fans haranguing him. The way his time went with us was mainly about his weaknesses and failures to improve on them. This exacerbated fans opinions toward him as he regularly continued to make the same errors that cost us but he was never booed or anything when on the pitch.

Just to talk about him as a player, he started promisingly and looked capable on the ball as well as aggressive when challenging. There were some slight hints at problems that would become more obvious as time went on. He basically has a problem with concentration, he's capable of making really basic mistakes in positioning or distribution and this cost us. He also regularly gets caught under the ball at crosses and this also cost us.

He had some good games for us and occasionally against the better teams in Scotland, mainly in the Scottish Cup Semi Final against Celtic and two home games against Aberdeen and Hearts last December. Sadly, he also had a few horrorshows such as the Scottish Cup Final, the 5-1 defeat to Celtic away and 4-1 against Hearts away as well as notable mistakes against smaller teams.

If your management team manage to improve his concentration and judgement of crosses, then he could be a decent player for you. It's just this never improved with us and as soon as our new manager came in, Kiernan only played one game before being banished to train with the youths. There's been recent rumours of him bad mouthing the manager and overacting with niggles to avoid taking part in youth games but how much substance there is to this, I can't say.

Btw as far as I'm aware, the Fulham interest was just a rumour, no contact was made between the clubs and the twitter account quoting the fee you have paid is a guy that posts made up nonsense on a regular basis.

Anyway, hopefully the move works out for you and him. All the best for the season.

Great post and welcome to the Zone, TrueBlue14.

Sounds like his spell north of the border was far from perfect but there's a lot of similarities to Adam Thompson, who was fairly average for us but then partnered up with Anton Ferdinand last season and looked a world beater. If anyone can help Kiernan cut out those mistakes, it'll be playing alongside Anton.

Here's hoping for great seasons for both clubs.

Cheers for posting.

We do know a bit about him as we had him on loan previously and he was excellent. Surprising to see the reaction from Rangers fans though as he really did impress first time round. To be fair though, Cian Bolger was mostly an accident waiting to happen for us and made so many individual errors at one point that it was depressing to watch. He's since gone to Fleetwood, won the fans player of the year and been linked with Championship clubs since. I guess it just doesn't work out for certain players at certain clubs sometimes.

I realise Twitter and forums are never really representative of the fan base, but a lot of the comments and reaction are still pretty classless.

I see I've made friends on your forum too - say hello for me! All the best for your season too mate.
