perhaps SZFC may want to look at how their members need to realise that their repping habits may effect the name of the team, and that they have a responsibility as members to uphold their mission (i assume) to be a friendly welcoming footie team from the SZ community.

however i would perhaps suggest that mike is granted an associate membership (i mean i would be willing to donate to a fund just so he stops whinging!!) and also i would suggest that SZFC have an offical line about their actions on this board and also ask members to respect that rep giving can be frustrating for non-szfc members... especially when it doesn't seem to have any direct link to the posts in question.

I'm not after an associate membership (honourary or not)! I just want to see fair play from the SZFC lads; your last comment hits the target perfectly.

Unc did get 'honourary' membership last season, in return for refereeing a game for us.
He was also given a signed football for all that he had done for us over the three and a half years he was with us... i miss Unc... i think anyone in the club will tell you how much i learnt from him

Rest assured, im sure we can add an item of 'who desereves honourary membership for the 2007/8 season' to the agenda at the next committee meeting.


And, please to everyone else who keeps mentioning that you can pay £10 to see the 'secret' forum... that is not the case..

as has been pointed out many many many times, the £10 is an assocaite membership to the club.. which means you can come to all our social events, on our tour, play in the unders over game, attend committee meetings, attend the AGM, stand for a place on the committee, vote on who goes on the committee, recieve the clubs accounts, recieve minutes from committee meetings... the 'secret forum' is just a very small part of the package.

Being the treasurer of SZFC, i can tell you we run on a very tight margin, and that all membership from players, and especially our non playing associates is very much appreciated... indeed if anyone wants to see just how tight a margin, pay your £10, and you can see last years accounts which i finished last week. :p

The rep thing is a bit of a laugh. I cannot believe ithas rasied 4 pages of such crap. I am sure we could all be talking about better things such as which memeber of girls aloud has the fishiest fanny or how many pints before we would shag Jo Brand.

For what it is worth ( And I dont consider myself to be part of any clique) I think the rep thing is funny and had been a welcome addition to this fantastic site.

The SZFC lads are going to be close and vote for each other as they are mates away from this board. To the same degree I always negative rep London Fatso, Cricko, Naps etc for no reason at all yet those lads know we are mates and its just a laugh.

SZFC are all as far as I am aware Southend fans and if they use the name of this site to promote it and the club we all love who cares?

They have there own forum but so what. I dont really care. I dont think I would read it a lot anyway and if they have SZFC stuff to talk about why not let them.

It seems ironic to me that probaby the youngest and probably most pointlessly repped person (Josh C) can take the rep thing for a joke that it is (baring in mind he has been bad repped for selling Croation Drugs, Asking my mum out on a date, not having a local Unwins etc etc) and yet loads of grown men can spend the best part of a day moaning about it.

I dont need your rep to define the type of poster I am as everyone who reads my posts knows they are a load of bollocks anyway.

Actually you'll find the wind-ups go pretty much only one way dear boy and Draft Shrimper will attest to that (I think posting my profile on a gay dating site was the worst - hmmmmmm!!!). I'm not bitter about it no and yes some of it IS funny but I'm just putting you straight on that, it's VERY much one way :rolleyes:

I just think it needed to be said that the "SZFC clique" abuse the rep system terribly, therefore what's the point of the system? If I see a great post I will give it the rep it deserves, likewise if I see a complete idiot who abuses and spouts absolute rubbish I'll give THAT the rep it deserves. I think the fact I've had numerous PM's and comments saying "Nice one mate, someone had to say it!" which was a little unexpected says it all really.......

I don't think ANY of us have a problem with the members site (secret handshakes is it lol?) but clearly it is used to badmouth certain posters at that time and to get people to give them neg rep which is very, very sad. You can't POSSIBLY say anything about a member of SZFC, oh no that would be a HEINOUS crime lol!!!!

You can deny it all you like but the fact of the matter is that you've got a very, very well respected member of this board of some 12,000+ posts who is well in the red for no apparent reason other than speaking the truth - however it seems in this day and age speaking the truth isn't accepted in society (and certainly not on SZ).

Fully agree mate, but what we're saying is that what has been said about the "clique" needed to be said cos it's been going on too long - the actual rep coming off of that isn't even an issue here at all. There are more respected posters than me on here who are even further in the red and it's clear why, the REASONS are what is being discussed here.

You've missed the point. The restricted access to the SZFC forum was being abused when members of SZFC embarked on a systematic campaign of 'neg repping' selected members of the SZ community; it was a simple case of bullying. They claim that they have ceased such activity but I'm yet to be convinced.

I was "bullied" by Kent Shrimper and Dave The Shrimper but it was just a bit of fun and games and nothing to take seriously. I have met KS on numurous occassions and he is top fella and although i have never spoke to DtS his personality comes across pretty well on the board!

All I can really say (by the way I understand) is that it all depends on who reps you! If people with little rep pos rep you, you're only going to get a little + rep from them. In your circumstance, it looks like 2 people have repped you when they didn't have much + rep and then someone with a hell of a lot of pos rep has neg rep'd you, so you're in the red.

That doesn't make sense, so I'm going to shut up.
