Nothing by way of an official statement coming out from the Club yet. I suppose I'm not surprised given it's so close to kick off. Better to focus on the match probably.

When is Ranger due back in court for sentencing does anyone know? I wouldn't mind betting that the Club will do nothing until they know the outcome of that.

Surely the above sums it up? RHB comments on a statement from the club about a player breaking the law as well as club rules...followed by "when is he in court for sentencing" for defrauding the vulnerable.
FFS. This guy is a horrible man!!
He needs to either come out and say he no longer wants to follow his gangsta friends and will commit to not defrauding women or breaking the law...or just go.

I haven't read through all the comments as yet, so I'll spare you the 'it's a privilege to a footballer...' cliche.

I would rather devote 100% of my support to the likes of Dave Mooney upfront as frustrating as he can be, but a player I [we] and the club can rely on.

I think he has had enough chances, the club made it clear what would happen if he stepped out of line , yes the players like him but but if he's rocking up and acting unprofessional then it would only be a matter of time until their attitudes would change towards him .
Imagine in your line of work if someon wasn't putting as much effort in as you , was doing drugs and was on more money than you then it would **** me off .

Bye bye Nile

Genuine question, do we need him? MAF has been exceptional since joining
Was about to post the same. Robinson looked good in his cameo too and Nouble is on the bench at all. Struggling to see how he would even making the bench with the players currently in the form they're in.

Never thought I'd see the day when mrsblue is the voice of reason in a thread.

For real?

He is a professional footballer. If he was an athlete he would face a potentially lifetime ban. If he was in a number of professions he would be struck off and sacked never to work that type of job again.

I don't think that's true. Mark Lewis-Francis failed a drug test for cocaine and got a warning. Michael Phelps got a three month suspension. Neither drug that Ranger took can be described as 'performance enhancing'.

Drugs wouldn't be my cup of tea but I find it difficult to feel outraged over what a well-paid professional puts into their body in their free time.

Rightly or wrongly - Class A drugs are illegal. Rightly or wrongly - the FA can impose severe penalties for drug abuse. Rightly? or Wrongly??? Nile Ranger decided to take drugs and risk our promotion challenge.
How different the response would have been if the team had lost the majority of games that Ranger has missed - on purpose., He chose to take the drugs and therefore chose to be unable to play for the club.

FFS. This guy is a horrible man!!

Please forgive me if I have the wrong end of the stick ........... and this is not a personal attack either ......... but my understanding from your previous posts is that you were involved in the hooligan element of football back in the 70s or so. Running through the streets as a "gang" or "mob" hitting other people, scaring people and old ladies, being anti-social etcetera.

Have I got that wrong?

Have you now reformed and realised that this sort of behaviour is not right?

He was definitely on something against Sheffield United (07.01.17), because he was absolutely terrible.

Joking aside, if he could stay out of trouble he could still have a big part to play. However, I don't think he can change. Shame.

Though the same and said so in my match ratings at the time!

Been out and about so only just seen this;

Surely this comes as no surprise - reckon a fair few knew this at least a week ago through connections or had put 2 and 2 together. I had assumed it was recreational and not performance drugs.

What now then?

Ranger was taken on by the club and knew the risks given his previous.

It would be a travesty if we just ditched him, as it would destroy him - he would be unemployable and likely end up on the wrong side of the law again and banged up for a long time or even worse. He needs proper rehab, mentoring, and guidance.

Despite what people think of him right now I still believe he needs support and not condemnation.

If I could give him one piece of advice it would be to make a public apology to both the staff and fans of SUFC, and confirm he is 100% seeking help to overcome his problems.

I don't think it's fair to the put the decision on the players. That isn't their job and they should be consulted before Brown and Martin make the final decision. I also think that if Ranger is to play again for us he does need to make a public apology and clearly state the practical steps he's taking to address his issues.

I still find the crime he's pled guilty to as being abhorrent. People at the club said that was in the past and he'd turned a corner, but it's clear he still hasn't sorted himself out. Ranger is a talented player and an asset, but he isn't irreplaceable and unless the squad are fully behind him I'd get rid. I'd happily play out the season with Cox, Fortune, Robinson, Nouble and Mooney.

Nile Ranger loves the drugs
He takes them up the sniffer
Is he still a Southend boy?
I beg to ****ing differ

Sorry:unsure:

was told today a few interesting stories about Mr Ranger today - - as far as I'm concerned he can **** off out of Southend United - and no i'm not going to elaborate (don't give it the 'I know and I'm not telling' ***** posts its just my opinion/feeling) - if you want to support him your choice - he'll never get mine
