Agreed, but driving whilst under the influence of it, Isn't

Surely if the FA want to act and judge and jury over player behaviour, then there should be bans in place for other misdemeanours.

True. You can get caught drink driving and kill innocent kids, go to prison but still have a career in football.

Nothing by way of an official statement coming out from the Club yet. I suppose I'm not surprised given it's so close to kick off. Better to focus on the match probably.

When is Ranger due back in court for sentencing does anyone know? I wouldn't mind betting that the Club will do nothing until they know the outcome of that.
April I think, so could be a long wait.

April 25th I think it is.

So, not quite the end of the season, but nearly. Then there is always the possibility of a play off final if we haven't already secured an auto place. As you say a long way off. I just don't get the feeling that the Club (Ron) are ready to dump him. We shall see.

I find it very hard to have even a moment of moral outrage over an adult taking a recreational drug. So the Scum can stick it's "drug shame" shock horror up its foetid and diseased arse.

My opinion is he's been bloody stupid to do this. But let him serve him punishment and give him a chance to prove himself afterwards.

**** me, he dropped an E and did a line of charlie. Hardly reasons to string him up.

Tens or thousands will do the same tonight and will go to work on monday morning. The absolute hypocrisy in society over drugs v alcohol makes me laugh.

No I don't think that's the reason people are angry, is just so many other things he has done have mounted up, and the last chance trust he was given... he chucks it away.

That depends, MK, on what rules exist for the profession you work in. For footballers it is a prohibited. Whether it should be banned is a different debate. Quite simply the rules were broken. Seems to me Nile is in last chance saloon, again! I can live with that if Nile is prepared to knuckle down and thank his lucky stars. One more transgression and I would expect immediate dismissal

Or hit a wall and become an England captain. Every time someone gets behind the wheel over the limit they are endangering the lives of other road users. Countless footballers have been convicted of drink driving with no further sanction and many involving accidents where luckily no one else is injured.

I am not condoning Ranger's actions and he deserves some sanction but sacking seems over the top to me.

You are right. This isn't his 1st transgression. He is supposed to live the life of a footballer whether or not MK Shrimper thinks that drug taking in this profession are hardly reasons to string him up. It's not his 1st transgression, he was given a chance by the club and for gods sake it is only taken him approximately 4 months to resort to this.

How many chances can he have. His last performance was way below par and the transgression may be a good reason for it.

He is obviously a very weak character and given this and the stick he will receive for this transgression will probably give him another reason or excuse to do exactly the same.

The problem with someone like him is that because he is in the limelight he will have loads of hangers on and judging by what I've heard he hardly leads the life of a professional footballer.

If the S*n is correct then it would have been the evening after the game and the next day. Whether that makes it better or worse is up for debate.

The only thing that makes me think he shouldn't be sacked is that he fessed up to it. I'm sure he will be subject to many more drugs tests in the future

For real?

He is a professional footballer. If he was an athlete he would face a potentially lifetime ban. If he was in a number of professions he would be struck off and sacked never to work that type of job again.

Drug taking aside , he has already proven he is a scummy individual. He was arrested for assault on a female and is facing court for being involved in defrauding the vulnerable.

But if that doesn't float your boat he has been in his last few games total dog****.

Take your pick.

I forgot

i forgot the Rayleigh wall...

I speak has someone who has never taken illegal drugs but for me this is a crime against himself and no one else and an unpaid suspension is appropriate rather than the sack. He should then be made to employ a mentor / sober coach to get him back on track

Which professions would he be struck off? As I know of several where illegal recreational drugs are rife.

Ranger's previous incursions were before he was a SUFC player and I won't condone violence or homophobia, but this time he's just been stupid.

Sadly wearing my retired social worker hat, Nile has zero chance of not being in exactly the same situation in the future unless he ditches his current friends and associates. "Go on Nile have one, no one will know".
What he needs is a strong woman to sort him out. In my experience this is the one and only thing that makes a real difference to wayward young men. The club and manager can only do so much.

Sounds very possible. Or we could re-sign Bilel. Nile could look at Bilel and say "I'm daft but not that daft" and that might steer Nile away from cataracts and treacherous waters ...........

P.S. Did you get the pun at the end?
