Question Questions and Answers Required Please.

1. improve the bars and meeting areas - have a cafe place for some that isn’t drinking and also the Community Trust could run this which would also include kids places

2. personally from me - no thank you but totally understand others wanting to

3. already a ST holder

4. The whole day in attending the stadium is not pleasant so it needs a complete overhaul from the bars/toilets and general state of the place (I have to clean my seat before I can sit on it every game)

5.:looking at some of the suggestions above The Community Trust already does most of what has been suggested and quite well to however, like the club they are restricted in finances and actually have charity status. I know they do lessons in schools on a weekly basis and use their time promoting the club to younger people and this includes giving away tickets.
The are very restricted in space and facilities and I know first hand how this impacts on what they do

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.

100% the matchday experience starts from the moment i wake up on a game day having more family orientated facilities and a fan zone to socialise would draw fans earlier to attend roots hall.

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?

Yes, if possible to transfer my season ticket seat to the North Bank on specific games would be great. Segregation (if the North West corner is bought upto standard) should be easy to make the North stand accessible from the East stand carpark and give the historic North Bank back to the home fans.

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.

I have already purchased my season ticket, simply for the cashflow. Holding back on season tickets was of no pain to Ron all i see it doing was limiting the cashflow thus hurting staff wages. My perspective is Southend United is NOT Ron Martin we just need to cut him out of the top. Southend Untied is the players, past and present the fans and Roots Hall. The custodian and chairman has muddy the water and lack of engagement with the life blood of the club THE FANS

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?

Better more modern facilities or bringing the club into the modern world with social media We need a younger more modern media approach. Some amazing work form various supporter groups have proven coming together is not impossible and plenty of good ideas for additional revenue streams.

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.

See point 4.

1 Definitely
2 maybe, like where I am tbh.
3 100% waiting to renew.
4 Events and music etc on a matchday ie fan zone, hog roast and beer festival etc.
5 Non matchday Southend United run groups ie fun runs etc and more evenings involving the players for charity or to top up the shrimpersntrust coffers.

Not in the area but

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.

Yes

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?

No

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.

N/A

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?

Better food/drink

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.

Kids' clubs, promotion, local suppliers, beer festivals, etc etc

Thanks

1. Sometimes
2. No (but support it being for home fans)
3. Yes
4. Decent toilets, better food options, better ticketing system, less posts in the West Stand(!)
5. Engagement with kids/young adults is key - I got a special offer of a cheap season ticket for a couple of seasons when I was a teenager. It got me hooked and I'm still here 40 years later.

1 Yes. Think of fans who don't want to drink alcohol before a game. Decent coffee and a Danish or pain au raisin please
2 definitely not. Bloody yobbos. I'm a west stander. But a good idea. Can it be adapted for safe standing at a reasonable cost.
3 I've got a season ticket. A 70th birthday present from my son's. Thanks lads
4 I've got to say it but although I have a lot of affection for Roots Hall it is pretty awful. The pitch is too high for many historical reasons which makes the view very poor and the seats are very uncomfortable especially if you are tall and have long legs.
5 I think the club do quite a lot already could do more. But we are rubbish about publicising it. Very few fans let alone residents in south Essex (our target area) are aware of what is being done

1. Most definitely- a marquee and some mobile food outlets in the car park to create a pre and post match atmosphere similar to Twickenham.

2. Think the North Bank should be for home fans! Not sure if the lower South offers enough seating to comply with league rules but would be ideal to house away fans there.

3. Bought 4 season tickets on hearing ‘Wallop’ as was confident this was the end of Ron Martin.

4. Improving food and drink outlets! Better beer and more options to reduce queues. See point 1.

5. make match days an afternoon experience not just a game between 3 and 4.45pm. More emphasis put on making kids attend at a very favourable rate. Having said that I am going to be disappointed if our gates don’t soar with the departure of RM and the feeling of relief we will get when this is all sorted.
As above.

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.
Definitely - we stop for food before getting to the ground because of the poor fare on offer.

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?
Probably not unless it was improved - seats too close together and too many posts.

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.
Bought mine as soon as I could. Same as each year.

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?
Not much to be honest apart from better pre-match facilities.... and the toilets.

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.
School and hospital visits are greatly appreciated by the kids.
More use of the club facilities away from match days, inclusive for [currently] non-fans.

1 yes
2 No
3 Already got one
4 Toilets that weren't under water
5. Get the club seen in the locality...posters, banners, flags, advertising boards down the high street, on the seafront etc. You can be in the high street and have no inkling that there is a football club in the area.

1) Yes - good idea
2) No - Would stay in Supper but great idea for others
3)Bought mine like Portuguese shrimper did
4)Better loos including proper disabled facilities (key operated) and parent/toddler etc
5) DECLARE FOSSETTS FARM A COMMUNITY ASSET AND TURN IT INTO A WILDLIFE RESERVE - OR MAYBE A SITE OF HISTORIC INTEREST IF A VIKING LONGSHIP OR OTHER REMAINS ARE DISCOVERED WHEN THEY START DIGGING - ANYONE KNOW DR ALICE ROBERTS ??

This is key. All of these potential changes everyone is listing could be great but they need to be aggressively marketed to the town. And regularly. If theres anything going on with the club it needs to be promoted everywhere. Need a much better marketing dept imo.

90% of southend residents wont go to the hall as they see it as crap low level football played in a total dump. Until that perception changes it will still just be the 'faithful' that attend.

1 - Yes
2 - No
3 - Yes definitely
4 - Better food offerings
5 - Get more involved in schools, summer schools, free tickets

Hi All, This is best to have in a separate thread i think.

The Zone has been asked to get 5 questions asked and answered to help some research that is taking place.

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.

Thanks
1. Yes... but kids need to be considered ie have photos with Sammy Shrimp injured players the legends or such like. Maybe even one of those take a penalty mini goal things
2. Yes but season tickets would be preference and ability to move seats easily
3. I live in Cardiff so haven't renewed yet due to the leach still being involved. Would seriously consider if the early bird rates were applied bearing in mind the circumstances
4. Again something to get the kids and future generations involved the Junior Blues is massively under valued by the club. We were never sent the sign up details for my daughter even though she had a season ticket last year. We were told we would have communication but it didn't happen. See point 1
5. As per above re kids, but also hold business club esc meetings breakfast and or pre game and improve the offering catering for corporate... appreciate this isn't easy. Increase local business presence and then allow what one would hope to be increased corporate partners to sponsor soccer schools, school, hospital and other visits and then push support for Community projects such as the food banks such like all pushed via sufc social media and such like. Sufc social media is very much under funded and could support the community

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.

Yes, definitely but needs to be reliable not too expensive and have shelter for fans when it's raining

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?

No thanks

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.

I have got mine already

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?

greatly improved food quality offerings, proper quality coffee, not instant rubbish.

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.

Much improved volume and quality social media output, regular player appearances at local venues in surrounding towns, open up occasional training sessions for fans to watch and or participate in

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.

Yes

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?

No, I like where I currently sit in the South Upper

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.

Already have one but we have reduced the number as a family due to the current situation. With RM gone we will likely increase this by two further ST's.

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?

Clean facilities, the current state of RH is appalling. Not expecting anything glamourous, just basic hygiene.

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.

They already do so much, perhaps more focus on getting more young people into the ground for each match (free tickets to schools etc). This happens on occasion but not regularly enough. If there were good facilities for food/drink/merch at the ground then spend per fan would more than pay for itself.

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players.
Yes definitely, and I think this feeds into my answer for question 4. Having a fan zone where we can turn up earlier with mates, have a beer and watch the early KO in the prem for example. Live music, street food outlets and ex players would be a more than welcome addition.

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team?
Probably not, I've gotten quite comfortable with my seat in the east, but would be a great idea for fan interaction. Would definitely build the atmosphere more. So not for me, but great idea for some.

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United.
I have already bought mine, and will be going to support the team. My inherent love for the club means that I would have bought a season ticket with or without RM.

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be?
A fan zone with good local beers and spirits (leigh brewery, pigs bay distillery etc.) or a sports bar with the same offering. Maybe do some more kids for £1 days, or every ticket £5 days to really get Roots Hall rocking for those big games. This could also help the community as those who may not be able to afford to normally go, could then attend.

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community.
Using local business for most things would be a great way to boost the town. I've already mentioned breweries and distilleries, but there are so many more suppliers that could be used. SUFC is already a community club and a great asset, but with proper owners, and better budgets, the community work already undertaken can be amplified.

Thanks

1. Yes - if good independent food and drink options and not bland corporatey stuff.
2. No
3. Already purchased in anticipation of a brighter future
4. Letting @slapheadsteve run the bars
5. Get more into schools

1. Would you get to Roots Hall earlier if there was a fan zone, with food and drink options for home games? Entertainment and ex players. defo yes, there is no pre match experience on offer currently, bars are old and run down and food and drink choices awful

2. Would you sit in the North Bank if it was possible on a game by game basis depending on the away team? i wouldnt as sit where i do for a reason, but we absolutely need the nucleus of our noisy fans behind the goal. Move W block there and the atmosphere will be even better

3. If you have not bought a season ticket yet, would you buy one if RM is no longer involved in Southend United. already have won, but know new ownership and ST will fly out the door

4. If one thing could be done to improve your match day experience, what could it be? clean and working facilities and better food and drink choices

5. What could the club do, in your opinion, to be more involved in the local community. get out to schools, local football clubs, offer incentives, kids for a quid etc
