I'm retiring in June and I'll tell you then was I've done for 40 years. It will surprise you. People need an incentive to better themselves and the current safety net has prevented many from doing this by being far too generous. If you want to pay for generational fecklessness that's fine. I don't.
I think "general fecklessness" is something thats milked by the media to a point where it overshadows the real people TRYING to better themselves but unable to do because Uni fees, rising transport & house prices put a lot of it out of their reach. The gap between rich & poor is at it's widest point it's probably ever been and SOMETHING needs to change.
