Maybe next season if we lucky we will make it , forget this season , 3 points off is a fallacy,we 6 points or more off and with our home record no chance off making it , And to put it more clearly if we dont defeat both Halifax and Rochdale forget it , OH then we have FGR ,I do believe without looking at the fixtures and Altrincham .Solihull, Gateshead and Oldham. Dream on people. And draws are no good to us .Forgot to say our biggest obstacle is we also have to defeat the sh*tty shower off refs and linesman etc we get also.

Yeah, but apart from that it's a piece of cake.

Rochdale have so many games to fit in. They also got through in the cup, which means rearranging another league game.

That is not going to be easy at all. Games in hand are nice, but only if you win them. We also have to play them too.

An interesting week coming up in a week's time. We play Halifax then Rochdale. Rochdale play us then Halifax.

Problem is both Rochdale & Halifax are like us seem to be better away from home (more recently). We won at both their places but the upcoming games are at Roots Hall. Unless we can improve our home form and gain 6 points from these 2 games, the gap will more likely increase not decrease over the season. Less pressure away from home and the way teams set up to defend and counter. I exclude the top 3 who are dominant at home and find a way. All away wins last night in the NL.

It's interesting isn't it? I just read a bundle of comments from Rochdale fans about last nights game. Baring in mind they are in the playoffs and have plenty of games in hand. "We don't shoot." "We're scared to shoot." "No desire, no fight." "Manager hasn't got a clue." Etc.

So many fans are writing similar about their sides, especially regarding home performances. It's become the norm to keep it tight, which never happened in the lower leagues years ago. Simply because defenders weren't good enough. It's crazy to think it's an expectation now for a NL side to get a clean sheet. That expectation didn't exist previously. The game has changed so much.

I agree with you though, the home games are huge for us. Ordinarily, fans should think, two home matches back-to-back against playoff rivals, that's great for us. Unfortunately, we aren't feeling like that.

Rochdale and Halifax probably have the worst pitches in the League so I suspect their players hate playing at home and enjoy an away trip.

The other consideration is Rochdale will have a congested schedule of Sat/Tue/Sat to catch up on the games in hand. Often we seem performances suffer as a result.

We have 18 games and 54 points to play for. That’s a long way to go yet.
We also failed to trouble a tier 8 side at home. Whilst 54 points is more than enough, the tactics and quality available to us suggest we won’t get enough points.

I watched the Rochdale game last night and they seemed so similar to us. Maybe a bit more pace across the team, but struggled to find a killer ball in the final third, where the game slowed down, rarely got behind the full backs and were passing across the front of the penalty area endlessly.

Oldham seemed to have the better penetration, got the early goal and then played on the break. Waters had a poor night, missing the target on a couple of occasions, when he should have done better.

On our day we could do well against both of these teams, only we don't seem to have many of "our days" at home this season.
