I used to work for a charter airline. Some of the comments on here... bloody hell. Firstly, just for a touch of education, the cheap flights that Ryanair and Easyjet advertise DON'T APPLY TO THE WHOLE PLANE! There is only a few seats at that price.

Secondly, check out flights from London- Manchester on Saturday with BA from Heathrow. FROM £299 return.

Thirdly, the price SUFC charge will be including coach transport to and from the airport (which will be no doubt Manchester or Leeds/Bradford because Blackpool is closed) plus probably the match ticket too and maybe a meal.

I doubt the club are making a bean.

They can't do bloody onions with the burgers so I wasn't expecting haricot verts.

They tried to stiff the fans on the first Madrid flight until they found I was arranging a trip for £200 ish and they where using Thomas cook/sport.

I have flown to watch England on a day trip basis cheaper

This could of been an ideal way of transport for lots of fans if it was priced correctly.

According to Twitter the club are going to put on a 95 seater plane to Morecombe. Cost expected to be £250-300! Seems a bit steep.

Morecambe and Rise. Am sure it'll be a Wise decision for those that go:blush:.

ps 1. note the spelling please, sixth letter in Morecambe 'a' not 'o'
2. wasn't Eric Morecambe a Luton fan...another coincidence

I flew to Newcastle to watched us play Sunderland when we were in the championship. I think it was just easyjet and I believe it cost around £60 each but I really enjoyed it except getting spanked 3 nil I think. Saw the players at the airport on the way back as well.

Surely given the ticket allocation they shall need to guarantee match entry to those that travel on the plane/coach.

.. Thing is, there was a post earlier saying match tickets weren't included, I think.

They tweeted 47 minutes ago that a match ticket is included with the plane ticket.
They worried that they cant fill the plane as no one would have a match ticket so changed it to include a match ticket, a bit crafty!

This thread brings back old memories of flying to Newcastle and Everton many years ago in some old prop plane.

... Ah, right, thanks 'UTS' makes sense to include a match ticket, but as 'Pubey' said above, that's changed as it definitely didn't include one earlier.

I think some people need a reality check on how much it costs to charter a plane.

A couple of years ago the team I support in Aussie Rules football made the final in Melbourne. All the normal flights were sold out, so someone enquired about chartering a plane. A 156 seat plane was £70,000 for the day. Mind you it's a bit further to fly from Perth to Melbourne so more fuel involved. I think its highly unlikely you'd be able to charter a 95 seater plane for anything less than £20,000.

Noooooo! Not the Jota 146. Crank start cargo plane these days. When I flew in it last there was still grafitti on the door from one of the Wright brothers.

I do remember those flights as a matter of fact. Full of old-school hoolies. I knew there was going to be trouble when I saw that Kate Adie was a trolley-dolly

could be a Fokker with a Pratt and Whitney

I remember flying to Everton in the FA Cup some years ago, Great day out but was very worried being at Southend Airport at 11am and the kick off was at 3pm in case the plane developed a fault and we would miss the game. In the event we got there on time and had a meal in the Adelphi Hotel before the match. Happy days.
