Probably been mentioned already but I don't fancy reading through seven pages, does anybody know why they are flying to Manchester rather than Blackpool?

Better pubs in Manchester for the pilots to get smashed in before the return flight home.

Allegedly.

the last time i flew to a southend away game was scarborough away in the FA cup. winners were to play chelsea live on tv next round. as the coaches were not getting back til about 3am + i get up to go to work at 5am i thought i 'd go VIP + catch the flight, arranged by the club, i think it cost £200 . it was a great buzz to travel with the team until after the match which we lost + everyone was sulking, and the local airport was shut so we had to coach i think to Teeside to catch the plane home from there. Once we finally got the coach home from Stansted , we pulled into Roots Hall ......... just to see the final fans being dropped off from those who travelled on the coach for a tenner! gutted !

I was also on that plane and well remember the return journey and the feeling of pure astonishment when arriving back at Roots Hall the last of the coaches was in the process of dropping off its passengers. But not only had we been delayed in getting to the airport on the way back we also landed at Stansted and were coached to Roots Hall.

Anyway can't somebody persuade Londonblue to fly a few of us up there if we chip in toward the fuel/landing fees etc.

Plane Update: We are pleased to announce the flight to Morecambe is now fully sold out. All guests flying have been issued with an e-ticket. If you have not been issued with anything, this means you are not booked on the plane. Please do not just turn up.

Do you know whether Phillip and the players are also on the flight?

Years ago when Southend were at the top end of Division 2 the club announced a flight to Blackpool for the away game at Blackburn. We had already beaten Blackburn (including players like Sherwood) 3-0 at home when they (Blackburn) had money to burn. The lure of the flight was to travel with the players but come the day the seats were all sold to fans and the players went by coach.

We went 2-0 up if my memory is correct (Angell & Ansah?) before finally being pegged back to 2-2 by a late Speedy goal. Quite an anticlimax.

Remember both those games.

Wasn't the home game the first match after Dalglish took over?

Rather nice aircraft actually. Leaves the Executive Terminal at Southend Airport (sorry, London Southend Airport) at 1030 on Saturday morning. For you plane spotters out there:

I shall look out for it overhead.

Reading the article, it is the old Flightline BAe 146, as I thought it might be.

Decent aircraft that one and was a very successful charter aircraft, when Flightline had it.

Hope they are not delayed, as I doubt they'll clear Manchester and on the coaches before Mid-Day and with the roads, could be a tight one.

As I am only in the UK a few weeks a year, I have decided to treat myself and grabbed the last ticket for this flight ,cannot bloody wait for the game
