True and I applaud Rom for that, if nothing else. But Brown has a lot to do in a lot of people's eyes to recover his reputation following his flirting with various clubs while the team failed to take even a point. The heat will be on if he has a bad start and rightly so. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that for obvious reasons. It wasn't an ordinary mid-table finish. We dropped like a stone after January all the while the manager was making it clear he wanted to be somewhere else.

Doesnt matter, its the season as a whole that counts.

He will certainly get flack if we start poorly though, and nothing wrong with that as whilst we shouldn't be expecting promotion we should be expecting improvement each season.

Care to explain exactly why the PB to Hull thread is closed. Probably the most plausible of links I've seen on PB for months

I explained it on the thread. There has been no link to the club and it can be discussed on any other thread about Brown wanting to leave.

There is no chance of him going to a Premiership club so no more plausible than Sunderland in my opinion.

Why not close this thread then. If he is not joining a Prem club in YOUR no basis opinion then he sure as hell ain't gonna be part of an England set up. Don't moderate based on a personal opinion

I don't believe that PB will go to Hull for two very good reasons :

1) he's English and English managers are so 'last year'
2) he's not good enough for that level (ouch)

This thread was here first.

Don't get yourself out of a hole (perhaps why you are called Jam Man?) by changing the name of this thread. The FACT is that you closed one on speculation. You've even stated here it was your opinion. The least you could do is merge those comments into here.

We dont need 3 threads about Brown leaving for other jobs. I closed what would be a 3rd one because it was pointless. He hasnt even been linked to Hull in any form yet, where there is a link to the England and Sunderland jobs.

I have therefore renamed this thread so we can keep all the discussions in one place, bearing in mind the discussions are going to be the same comments repeated.

And were these comments really that worthy of merging?
Will PB link himself to Hull City now Steve Bruce has left them....
Oh dear. Here we go.
If he doesn't, I am sure Shrimperzone will anyway.

Any chance we can get back to the discussion now?

This may have happened on shrimperzone but not in the real world. Do you really think club Chairman watch Sky news to see who is available.

The only approached was from Big Sam for an assistant. Despite offering more than 5 times his SUFC salary, PB turned them down and made that quite clear to everyone at the club.

As others who are in the know stated on here. He made it clear he was not going to Bolton.

Great post. All we want is for PB to be professional and not flaunt himself on Sky Sports or Talksport. He was asked if Allardyce was right for the England job and all he had to do was offer his opinion that he was. When asked about personal roles and Sunderland he had to say nothing but 'I am Southend Manager'. He didn't.

Its no wonder the players become unsettled as was proven last year and it's started before we've kicked a ball this year.

I agree. We will have much more with the Hull City fresh vacancy at his former club. Without a doubt PB would relish this job and I await his comments when he is asked about it!!

This is now another confirmed zone myth. There will be the usual round of sackings before October. Followed by a steady cull throughout the season. With the odd manager doing well in L1 going on to higher things and some clubs having 3 different mangers. Players are used to this and expect it as part of modern stupidity in Football. So its no excuse when you cross the white line.

But it did affect us last year and some players confirmed that there was a lot of unsettled feeling in the dressing room. Let's face it the Bolton speculation went on so long and our results after the Shrewsbury away game were dire and the performances even worse.

I agree. It went for ages and it coincided with our slump. Any unrest like that will have will have an effect. Even PB admitted it himself and spoke to the players to re-assure them.
A cleat message is to publicly dismiss any speculation immediately. I hope this is a lesson learnt however I have my suspicions it will not be....

I think PB was looking for excuses during an interview straight after a really poor performance away from home. Sorry but it just not professional for players or managers to use such a lame excuse as 'unsettled'

Chelsea players may not of liked what Mourinho was up to but used it as an excuse to cheat the whole club. As they did when they took a dislike to Scolari. Everyone is to quick to blame managers at every opportunity. I'm of the believe that as player you are responsible for what happens on the pitch. We have just allowed the England players off the hook once again because Roy was an easy scape goat.

For me it was the Port Vale game on the Friday night. After a good win against Burton we had to many players who didn't fancy it. The most disappointing on the night was Wordsworth. Had his best game for us against Burton and vanished a few nights later. We then had a couple of poor results at home and never recovered.

I hope Wordsworth proves me wrong, as he does owe us a good season. I know the injury wasn't his fault but he is definitely on my watch list. Lets hope he's not just a show boater when it suits.

Disagree, he was playing cat and mouse with Ron and the only reason he didn't go is because his mate Holdsworth couldn't get him in the door, interesting that Holdsworth left Bolton this week.

I've been reading all these posts and really can't understand where all this anger towards Phil comes from. We really need to get behind him and the team like supporters should do. If Phil gets offered a better job then hey ho life goes on. All of us would take more money with better prospects if it was offered to us so I think people need to get off his back. Whilst Phil is the manager we should all give support! When the next manager comes in we again give our total support and so on. Let's not start the season on a downer, it's not what the team needs!
