No problem with any of it. Who would'nt want the prestige and the pay that comes with being in the England set up and regarding Sunderland, it's his club just like this is mine.
I would think Sam is cringing at the public bum kissing actually, not doing himself any favours. He even said he hasn't spoken to Sam for months, very strange behaviour.I never went on TV touting for another job that I hadnt even applied for no, I would go find a job discreetly.
Theres nothing wrong with him wanting to move on and upwards, its just how he does it that rubs people up the wrong way.
I wouldn't mind if Phil Brown be Big Sam number 2 and manage us, he can do both job. CSKA Moscow manager did manage both CSKA & Russia, so why not PB can do the same as No2!
When I have applied for jobs I've applied via the employer or their recruitment agent rather than via television.
Bentley wasnt on the TV saying it repeatedly though.
Just the way its dealt with is the difference, one left with a bit of dignity.
PB's chances of the Sunderland job area a big fat ZERO, don't know why he's deluding himself?
The England staff job depends whether Big Sam puts his heart before his head.. Even so, I am sure the FA would veto this, as surely one of the caveats of Sam getting the job is they have final say on backroom boys... (so he doesn't just employ his old drinking buddies..)
Personally I think PB should keep his trap shut, I was just starting to like him again and now this - i can guess he told Sky, yeah i'll talk about my mate Sam, but only if you chuck in a few Q's about the England and Black Cats

The FA have claimed to have a succession planning policy for at least the last 15 years, when has it ever happened ? all hot air, they say the right things and do the opposite.I am sure part of Sam's brief is succession planning. We need to be identifying the young coaches coming through who can take our national side to new levels and fulfilling potential.
His job and livelihood is not on the line
Given the atrocious results and performances towards the end of last season, they should be. The Wigan display was right up there with the worst Southend United performances I've seen in my 20 years of supporting the club. Up against some damned stiff competition too.
While I'm not calling for his head as such, I'm a bit disappointed the heat hasn't been put on him at least a little bit, might focus his mind.
