"Until someone comes knocking I'm at Southend"
Well that shouldn't matter because when the Bolton rumours were rife what was his favourite line? "I've never broken a contract and don't intend to".
"Until someone comes knocking I'm at Southend"
Don't forget here that Sunderland excel at making dismal managerial appointments- think Roy Keane,Geordie Steve Bruce,Di Canio and now they even seem to be considering Moyes!
What did people expect him say?.......No I wouldn't leave Southend for England or Sunderland because Southend's a bigger club & job......knowing what we know about him, its everything I thought he would say.....the man is a media whore & he would eat himself if he could, just a shame he can't get that sort of self confidence into his players & believing we they can achieve as a team & individuals......his man management skills need addressing......if he got a bigger club he couldn't ignore the players & sulk in his office for days after a defeat, like he has done here.......maybe that's why he is where he is!
He doesn't need to say anything. He hasn't been linked with these jobs in the press, he puts himself out there in the shop window like a cheap whore. Just keep your mouth shut.
I totally 100% agree with you, but, Phil don't keep his mouth shut, we all know he'll have an opinion
What did people expect him say?......
Presumably saying nothing is beyond him but it would have been more respectful to at least preface it with "I've got a great job here at Southend but...."

So correct. Why say anything. All he has to say was that Allardyce would be a good appointment. He killed us off last year with speculation that ruined the season and is doing exactly the same now before a ball has been kicked.
All other managers at our level with very few exceptions conduct themselves far better and I guess that's the problem with having a part time manager whose other job is media based.
His job and livelihood is not on the line so basically he can say what he wants no matter who it affects or upsets.
Dan Bentley stayed with the club and got a promotion and was offered the opportunity to play a higher level. Everyone gave their blessing and wished him luck.
Phil Brown has managed us well and got us into a higher division. He has stated that he wants to achieve more and manage at the highest level possible.
Strikes of double standards from our fans to me.
He will be off if and when the right offer comes in. If not as he says he has a job to do and I think it's a job he is doing well.
Why are people irate. He is a mackam and would love to manage his boyhood club or be involved in the England set up for his country.
Personally think it would be great from a contacts point of view if he was offered assistant manager for England and allowed to stay at blues.
The list of young talent we could be offered would be endless.
So just to be clear those moaning have never applied for a better job...had ambitions to be paid more or work in better conditions.....over sensitive prissy wimps as usual.
He was asked if he would like to work with the national team....of course he would
Asked if he would manage his boyhood team....no brainer
Plenty of man up pills needed round here

When I have applied for jobs I've applied via the employer or their recruitment agent rather than via television.
Because you get invited to go on television on a regular basis I assume. When I have applied for jobs I've applied via the employer or their recruitment agent rather than via television.
