Thats also a reason as to why he should be treated with a bit of respect, saved this club in his first season!!

Of course he should be treated with respect. I'm not saying he shouldn't, but you how long does a man keep his job for what he did in his first of his three seasons?? The following two years should have meant promotion...largely down to his good work at the beginning.

Mildly amusing watching the presenters on SSN trying to read through that statement and pick out the 10% of truth hid behind 90% of waffle and ********.

In fairness I think the club has a valid point in their statement.
It is not all Sturrocks fault and the players have to shoulder some blame here but I keep saying that RM aim has been to get out of L2 at all costs.
There must have ben some dealings going on in the back room of the club to state they will announce another manager tomorrow.

Your being generous with 10% :hilarious:

"Accrington
o Barnet
o Wimbledon
o Plymouth
and
o Torquay ...

ALL these Teams’ playing budgets are considerably less than Southend United’s and 4 out of the 5 teams are around half of what Southend United invest in “its” Squad."

----------

Completely incorrect. At least two of those clubs listed have significantly bigger playing budgets than Southend United.

As i said on FB/Twitter- You cant disagree with too much of that statement and its been coming for a week or so. I actually think RM has done the best thing and for once, i will back him with this decision. His next big decision is who the new manager will be ....

As above. No fan of he's style of football but he saved OUR club from certain relegation out of the league for sure when he took over, 83 points last season, and a Wembley final this. Shocking knee jerk reaction.

That ^^^

Injuries, ill timed suspensions, needing to rely on loanees.... he's worked a minor miracle here if you ask me; especially two years ago when he inherited a team with one professional a week before the season ended.

I actually agree with you on this Kev, especially with the latest poor form and points from the last 3 games. Guess it was on the cards really and with Sturrock hinting he was going to leave at the end of the season anyway.
Just concerning that it could have a knock-on effect but, in saying that our form could not be any worse that what it currently is

I've been thinking for months whether he should go in the summer. I came to the conclusion that i'd give him one more season. He has an eye for a player, that's for sure. Some of the players he has signed have turned out to be real stars so for that i personally was willing to give him one more season to get us up.

He will lead out and manage at Wembley. What about the league games?
either let him go now or keep him till after that game. he can't just manage for one game.
I have a sneaky feeling the new manager will be a big name, like Sturrock was. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised

In reality Sturrock's health has to be a factor - he really isn't a long-term option beyond this season anyway so it seems like a sensible decision.
