Not surprised by this decision, Sturrock has not exactly been a great success despite being able to sign players almost every other week during his reign. Best wishes to him though as the job is not easy whoever takes charge. Would like to see a manager with contacts in the South-East and ready to sign players from both league and non-league clubs. In other words another Tilly or Webby!
Lets see who is appointed tomorrow but I am not confident in Ron's judgement on this matter.

But in all seriousness, what a joke. How can any kind of management change at this time of the season help in any way?

It can't, but then in reality what can help us with this season? I think the idea is it'll help us with next season by allowing the new manager to bed in. Much as though I'd have liked Sturrock to stay, if he is going to go then now (or just after Wembley would've been my choice) isn't a bad time.

Hmm that is true. But surely after Wembley would have made infinite times more sense. Apparently Sturrock is still going to manage the team for the JPT final?! Isn't that just taking the p***?

Sorry lads but there is no room for sentminent in football. Results have been poor and getting worse, performances have been poor and all we havedone this season is get to Wembley which I am not knocking but it glosses over a **** year by all accounts.

after Wembley would've been far more sensible, unless they want to get the new manager on board before he goes to another club. As for the JPT final, wouldn't say it's a **** take, as I'm sure PS would want to manage the team there, does seem bizarre though effectively having a loanee manager for one game only.

To me Martin's statement (I wonder who wrote that for him?) lost all credibility (if it ever had any at all?) as soon as the words "new stadium" were mentioned. Yeah right...

You don't have to be a fan of Ron to see that statement makes sense. The timing would be poor if we hadn't got someone lined up but it seems we have and I'm very much looking forward to finding out who it is.

It is very common knowledge that PS was probably going to go at the end of the season anyway and lets be honest here any manager that does not perform gets shown the exit irrespective of previous history. they are only as good as there last few results and we have just not performed over the last few games. Our play off hopes are all but gone now

well, personally i think the decision is a right one though subject to who comes on board in his place

we have been playing poorly, and although he always comes across as an honest guy I think he hasn't quite got the oommph needed now, maybe his illness plays a part in that

and also i applaud the decision to let luggy lead the team out at wembley, it was him that got us there with in partic his goalie subbing at oxford, and assuming luggy is ok about all this and it all does not just become a festering wound until april 7th then surely this is a good way to bow out as well as giving the new guy more time to get us sorted before next season

and who knows, this might just all give us the lift we need too for a late push at the play off's and maybe win the wembley match, it seemed pretty certain we were only going to get worse with things as they were. If we don't get the play offs at least we now have the chance to get some direction for next year and relegate aldershot along the way.

With the match off on Saturday I thought other than the odd result not going the way I would have liked although that does not really matter now I thought I would be spared any football related disspointments this weekend.
Then after nonesense on Soccer AM yesterday about the National Anthem and now this most crazily timmed managerial change even without playing Southend have related issue's have p!ssed me off !

........... oh, and also it may even boost ticket sales further or wembley, make the day EVEN more an emotional one, and it must be pretty unique in football to have the chance to give tribute at a match for a manager who has already been sacked

yep, it gets the thumbs up from me ..... subject to who the new guy is

I like the statement from RM stating "he will allow PS to lead the team out at Wembley" Allow?????????

I'm gutted for sturrock but I understand, he has made a lot of mistakes. But he has saved this club when he first came here so I will always hold a place for him in my heart. I'd love for him to sign off by winning is the jpt then if you look at the stats and circumstances of his tenure here he has to be up there with our best mangers.

Regarding the new boss, I understand why we are doing it now. Our promotion hopes are all but over now so it gives him time in competitive circumstances to get to know the squad and hopefully keep our better players on board. So keeping the likes of clohessy and tomlin etc.

even though we won't be in the end of season drama, with the new boss we could have our own drama.

We may always change managers but us fans need to stay united and give our all until the end of the season to help the players and prepare for next year!

UTB!
