The new manager will have the same players injured as Sturrock did. The only positive is Tomlin is back and he is the catalyst for a good performance.

Very true dave . new manager always seems to give everyone a boost and the players who have not been playin may now up there game for a new manager.

Some of you guy got what you wished, but I still hope Sturrock can lead the team at Wembley cos he deserve it. But our form since the Burton game is relegation form and to pick 1 points from 3 games Vs struggling side is unacceptal for Ron Martin, I can see the players head drop when we goes 1 - 0 down at home and we never look like coming back.

This mean you're going to start coming for crosses Paul?

The one headline that I am looking forward to is : Breaking News : Southend United part company with Ron Martin

I think I'm in for a long wait though :0(

I for one am delighted that Ron has made the brave decision to get rid of PS.
As Ron said he had been backed with players and was not delivering on his promises.
I now feel with a new man at the helm we can still make a run for the paly offs. I never felt this could happen under PS.
I do not agree however that PS should lead us out at Wembley, this does not seem possible to me.
I don't think it will work and also feel he himself would not want to do it.

Ive said it before, I can't work out if you're trolling or being serious, with regards to Martin

:sherlock:

Phil Brown, given his track record, please **** off as I don't think his style of football will suit us. We should be looking at young up coming manager not a guy who failed at his 3 from 4 club in charge.

Cant argue too much against what Ron has said in fairness. Luggys been given the tools to do the job and hasnt done it, simple as. Its simply unacceptable to not beat any of the bottom 6 at home. Yes weve had injuries but hes been able to replace them with loanees, something a lot of other managers are not allowed. On paper we have one of the top 3 or 4 squads and we are languishing in mid table.

I think RM just wears managers down in the end with his constant bollocks and financial miss-management..It was common knowledge that players were often paid late as were staff members and Paul himself. I am not saying that a change was not necessary but who in their right mind would want to work under such a ruthless ****. Paul was going after the Final anyway surely 2 more weeks would not have done much harm. This is as Tinks said, is just RM grabbing the limelight once more.

Are you suggesting Cricko, that it may not be long before the new incumbent may FEEL he has dropped into the BROWN stuff?

Question is - with play offs STILL MATHEMATICALLY avaliable - do we back the new manager and players from day one, whether we agree with this decision or not ?!? If it comes off, ie a fresh manager completes the push for promotion, then surely we can all put our opinions of our chairman to one side ........, ie booing through games !

Promotion is vital to us, would we be cutting our nose to spite our face to push a campaign of hate for the remainder of the season ???

Thoughts ???

At the end of the day, I love SUFC, managers and players have come and gone over my 30 years as have owners etc, but the club is who i support !!!

I think PB will have been fed the same bull as PS was when he came here..big catchment area, we are about to move into a new stadium, funds will be available blah blah blah,, and if the current state of the club continues for another year or 2 ..PB will also be warn down and think "What is the point of this"

All Teams in football have injuries and when that has happened at Southend we have supported the Manager still further on every occasion. The Board has recently sanctioned an additional six players (5 loanees) to help maintain the challenge at the top end of the Table. However the form, just as it did last season, has dropped off when it should have been pushing for automatic promotion. Let’s be clear, promotion should always be a realistic prospect for Southend United in League 2. We are not a League 2 Club and my ambition as Chairman is to ensure we compete and fulfil our potential whilst at Roots Hall and continue that trend in the new Stadium.

Absolutely right RM!
:clap:Just a shame you left it so long as we may still be in the play-off hunt if done three games ago!
Thanks PS. You tried. You worked hard but it was not to be. Hope your future is in football league somewhere. Time for us to receive and welcome a new manager and look to new heights.

good point well made. the only thing that matters is promotion

GBJ, you also puzzle me. I don't understand your contempt for RM.
If you sat down and had a chat with him about SUFC you would see him in totally new light i'm sure.
I hope one day you can do that. He has decided to move on from PS and that was not easy at this stage of the season.
He is a very loyal man as he proved with Tilly. But he will make a bold decision based on the good of the club.

There has to be a bit of sentiment left in the game i love, a liitle bit of humanity in a game that that already has enough horrible ****s doing what they want, Sturrock should indeed lead the team out and be in charge for the day, IMO all this should have stayed under wraps until after the final, I do actually see the point of getting a new man in now so he can assess the squad etc but come on we were all on the pitch the other week singing sturrocks name etc let the man have his day.
