Breaking News Paul Brush Dismissed...

Take a tip Ron, you odious cretin. If you want a change, have the bollocks to to do it properly, instead of making a scapegoat out of a magnificent servant of this club. Selling our top goalscorer and then sacking Brush is both underhand and cowardly.

If Tilson walks I wont blame him, and I would hope that he and Brush would find a job quickly.

Did he let the tax bill build up or was it one he inherited? I don't know, though hopefully someone can clarify

Irrelevant, if it was in place at the point of purchase it was a known liability. And if it was claimed to be lower than it was, then warranties could be applied.

You agree that something had to change, you don't want to lose Tilly, so what does that leave?

I'm not saying sacking Brush would have been my answer, but I can see why Ron Martin might have thought it was his next card to play from a nearly empty hand.

Given money from where?

You do realise that if Martin goes, it would be Geoff King running the club?

Don't disagree with any of this.

What I meant was if a manager is given the resources at the start of the season it is down to him to get team to perform. Tilly has had no support all season from Ron.
With regards to Geoff king running the club I dont think that will ever happen!! Ron would sell.
What would you do yorkshire blue as you are against a protest? Are you happy with what happening?

Magic. Just had some tart at the club ring me and ask if I'd like to take part in 'a wonderful scheme to invest in the clubs youth development.' Taking the ****ing ****.

I really dont think he made a scapegoat out of him, I still think Brush has been kicking up a stink over the mess (who can blame him) and Ron Martin thinks its making matters worse.

Think its ridiculous as any negativity from Brush is because of Martins failure to run the clubs finances.

As for the Barnard sale, theres nothing to blame Martin for on that one, he wanted to leave, we couldnt keep him here against his will!

I'm more concerned about how Tilson will cope on his own. They were definitely a team that complemented each other.

Ron would sell to who?

I don't have any answers. I'm against any protest being without clear, identifiable and achievable goals, rather than against protesting. To be honest, I didn't think the club had a future when Ron Martin took over. He saw a business opportunity that I didn't. I still don't see what the alternative is to crossing our fingers and hoping the new stadium and surrounding developments somehow come off and pay for themselves. I'm open to suggestions.

Getting us promoted after Webb walked out and saving us from relegation after Bate started with 2 points from 8 games.

What planet are you on?

On reflection, I take back the word “spectacularly” but still believe him to have been largely unsuccessful.

Paul Clark took over from Dave Webb, when Webb left with 10 or 11 games of the 86/87 season left. At the time Webb went we were, as I recollect, in the third and final automatic promotion place, 7 or 8 points in front of Col U and Wolves, with a much superior goal difference to them both and at least two games in hand on them both. By the end of the season we were still third but only a point clear of Wolves and we had an inferior goal difference. Yes we got promoted but we only just got over the line. To be fair, we actually beat Wolves at RH on the run in and we won our last game away to Stockport to secure promotion. But any reasonable person has to give Webby all or most of the credit for our success that season.

The following season Bate lasted until mid September. We were second from bottom when he was despatched (as you say after 8 games) by Jobson and Clarky re-installed as manager. At that time we were 4 points away from getting out of the relegation places. We were still second from bottom by Christmas and still four points from safety and third from bottom and three points from safety by Easter. We stayed up that season by winning our final match 4-0 at home to Blackpool. Peter Butler got the first just before half time to steady the nerves and then David Crown fired in two quick goals against a mid table Blackpool side who were basically already on their holidays.

In his final season in charge, Clark was sacked by Jobson in late March as I recall with Blues in the bottom 4 at the time. Webb came back and we failed on goal difference to stay up that season, but the next year we came back up and that started the best period of success in the club’s history.

Football is all about opinions I accept that. I remember Paul Clark as an all action, whole hearted and fairly skilful footballer, who was also an excellent side-kick for Dave Webb. But a successful manager, no in my opinion he was never that, and I think both my memory and the stats bear me out on that one.

Why is everyone ignoring the below statement ?

we need to bring new energy, a fresh outlook, momentum and most importantly a POSITIVE APPROACH to the on field activities.

We have no money -So we can't bring anyone else in - we all know that
We have no money-So we can't even pay the players
We have some good players- but sometimes they play ****
Almost everyweek we have a line up that practically NO ONE on here agrees with or understand
No one is lining up to invest x million in the club

SO WHAT CAN THE CLUB DO ?

To me Ron is saying that Brushy has given up -- thats how I read it . Given the circumstances fair enough I can accept that and I don't think anything less of Brushy but if it is true then I also accept that Brushy has to go?

I can imagine Ron asking a reasonable questuon along the lines of ' how the XXXX did that bloke who was xxx for us just score three !!!

I am not up Ron's arse , but I am trying to think rationally. If he really just got sacked for giving an opinion in a private conversation and he is still being positive with the player all the time and doing his best to build team morale then I take back the above. But everyone is saying this makes no sense - so there must be something we are missing here

I've seen this repeated time after time on ShrimperZone, yet I don't know how people know how much money he has personally invested out of his own pocket into the club, as opposed to money borrowed from other sources and leveraged against assets, future opportunities, etc? I've never seen any published record of it. Where are those details? If you do know the amount, please share it with us. I'd like to know exactly how much of his own money Ron has actually put into the club? Is it £1? £1,000? £1m? £10m? I'm asking because I have absolutely no idea.

Yeah you could be correct, I'd hazard a guess though that over the years the profits from his other ventures/companies have been pumped into FF/SUFC. We were haemorrhaging money before RM came, and unfortunately we seem to have continued to... whilst RM has funded an expensive planning application through the club.

Can anyone explain RM's comment about maintaining an upward spiral on the pitch. Have I been having a Dallas 6 months, where I wake up and it was all a dream and we are really Fourth from top.

Good luck brushy in your next job! Shame I liked him whenever I was away from home he would lead the applause for the away fans, and always lead the team ovet to thank us!

Just a thought...... If we went into administration, what would the first thing the administrators do. Cut the wage bill and make savings where they could. Do you think if we were in administration they would look at Tilly and Brush and say-we don't need both, and then get rid of the most expensive wage of the two. i.e. tilly???

What I am saying is do you think RM has got in first and sacked Brush before the administrators sack Tilly?

Paul Brush deserved the sack. He only went and asked for his wages they allegedly owe him since December. Cheeky Bugger.

Any player mentioning unpaid wages, will have his tongue cut out, by order of our Great Leader.

Devon ... he did really well as Player-Manager in '87 to take us up with a rampant Wolves side nipping at our heels. Wolves won 11 out of their last 12 games IIRC and if we hadn't beaten them, then they'd have gone up instead of us.

The 'Great Escape' season was incredible - we won 5 out of our last 7 games to stay up & that's promotion form plus. I felt that he was unlucky the following season - we played good football at times but he was finding it difficult to be both player and manager, and Jobson brought Webby in to give Clarkey some well-earned respite. Remember: Clarkey took us up and kept us up, the latter in very difficult circumstances thanks to the mess left by Bate.

ps ... and keeping this (tangentially) on topic, he signed Paul Brush. Very sad day for the club - we have lost a good man and great servant. All the best, Bas.

Doesnt this sound like we cant afford his wages?

If he signed a new contract during the promotion years the terms were probably quite good.

Notice the sacking has taken place just before what should be one of our most winnable games in recent times. If we win, he'll be all smiles and I told you so's. God damn that man and his sexually arousing hairdo.
