Breaking News Paul Brush Dismissed...

Yes, I believe it was a footballing decision

Well, in that case why hasn't Tilly been sacked as well? Sacking the assistant, but leaving the manager at the club doesn't underline a change at the club IMO. Ultimately, Tilly will still be calling the shots whoever the new man is (that's assuming there will be someone coming in) and it's Tilly who should carry the can for the football side of the club - not Paul Brush.
Sorry, I just can't accept this being a football decision and if it is then it's one made by a man who hasn't got a clue!

You don't think us dropping into the relegation zone, not having won all year, not having kept a clean sheet since November(?) had anything to do with this decision at all?

For those doubting it was a footballing decision, I have 3 questions for you.

1. Did something have to change?
2. Do you want to lose Tilly?
3. What other options are there left?

I'm utterly confused by it all to be honest.

I think the work that Tilson and Brush have done for this Club is incredible. They have taken a side that was slipping out of the football league, up to the Championship, beating Man Utd, drawing with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, being within seconds of extra time at WHL. Obviously things are now in a downward spirial, but I'm praying there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It will be interesting to see Brushy's side of the story in the Echo tomorrow.

On the other hand, I think RM felt something had to change. We haven't won this year and we are in March. Teams, when they change manager, normally go through a "honeymoon period". Look at Brighton, in Poyet's first game in charge they beat Southampton away. RM couldn't get rid of Tilson. Its that simple. Tilson is a Southend legend, and dispite everything thats gone on, he is still a Southend legend. Any other Club would have sacked him this season. They probably would have sacked him during our winless run in the Championship. We stuck by him, and are continuing to do so. Brush is therefore the next in line to go.

I can see Duncan doing it till the end of the season. But in the future you have Peter Taylor, who is only Bradfords' manager till the end of the season. Chris Powell is doing his coaching badges. Paul Clark and Spencer Prior could both be reasonable shouts, as could a return of Dean Austin.

We, now more than ever, need a result on Saturday and with 3 home games in a row we have our best chance of getting a winning run together, and it has to start on Saturday.

Where the players not supposed to be paid today ? (I know we said this last Monday aswell)

But I just wonder if they've still not been paid and Brushy has done his nut.

Hmmm Paul Clarks not a bad shout for replacement. He talks a lot of sense in the radio commentaries and has worked with Tilson in his playing/player coach days. In the interim I can see Ricky Duncan stepping in.

Personally, no I don't. As I said, if it was based on a football decision then why wasn't Tilly sacked? He is, and remains the man in charge.

1. Yes, but something had to change to lift the squad and not make things worse (e.g. wages to paid in full would have been a good place to start.)
2. No.
3. If I'd have asked 'what should happen now to survive relegation' yesterday how many would have said 'sack Brush.' Not many, if any at all. Would you? There would have been calls of Martin out/in, pay wages, get rid of Mvoto/even sack Tilly, but get rid of the assistant for a change of direction?!?! I don't think so...

1. yes if the management was given money to spend or the players got payed to at least feel good
2. No, but Ron made a easy option but again if resource was given than yes tilly would have to take the blame
3. Get martin out

No-one can argue that things need to improve on the field and our defending has been poor for about 4 seasons (with the brief exception of when we had Dervite). If someone else is brought in and we stay up then RM will, with some justification I suppose, feel vindicated. Though it will still be very harsh on Brushy who with Tilly has been trying to make the proverbial silk purse out of a sow's ear this season.

Make way for Paul Clark .... Someone who knows how to defend ..lol

Paul Clarke is my first choice. Never heard someone tell it like it is, talk so much sense and have so much knowledge about all positions on the field. He really could teach the players a few things they don't know, and improve their game and help the team.

Yeah sure.....

Ron Martin may be guilty of plenty but if he was out to just rob us he wouldnt have paid a 2 million pound tax bill.
Lets criticise him for his failings but lets not get carried away...

For the avoidance of doubt, let's say "arranged for the payment of a 2 million pound tax bill he had allowed to build up over a number of years".

Did he let the tax bill build up or was it one he inherited? I don't know, though hopefully someone can clarify

Will Tilly follow, quite possible the way things are looking as Tilson is NOT happy the way the meeting went.
.

I wouldn't be surprised, I know someone who plays for the same Ping Pong club with Tilly and Sir Steve is not happy with the current predicament as the players are (rightfully) moaning about the lack of wages on a day to day basis.

You agree that something had to change, you don't want to lose Tilly, so what does that leave?

I'm not saying sacking Brush would have been my answer, but I can see why Ron Martin might have thought it was his next card to play from a nearly empty hand.

1. yes if the management was given money to spend or the players got payed to at least feel good
2. No, but Ron made a easy option but again if resource was given than yes tilly would have to take the blame
3. Get martin out

Given money from where?

You do realise that if Martin goes, it would be Geoff King running the club?

Don't disagree with any of this.

Sorry, YB. I've tried to see it, but I can't possibly see how you can be right.

Get rid of Brush and replace him with........?

No one.

No replacement.

No idea.

No Plan B.

No f***ing clue.

Sounds like a clever plan to add new ideas and freshen things up to me.
