Breaking News Paul Brush Dismissed...

Whatever the reasons for this, and it doesn't smell good, I am personally gutted for a man who has served the club so well.
He always made a point of coming over to applaud the fans at every game home and away that I've been to.

But I tend to agree with Suffolk Blue. We have NEVER been able to defend, even vaguely well, barring the brief spells we had with Dervitte and Prior in the starting - and most importantly settled - eleven.

Tend to agree to a point. the defence has often been our weak link, but why single out Brush for that failing? To me the failing is the lack of investment is capable defenders. Clarke left and was never replaced properly. We needed a quality replacement for him, not streams of mediocre defenders on loan (not including Devite in that of course). Going by track record of Tilly and Brush; given a few quid, I am confident they would have provided the goods.

Defences always fail at some point, otherwise you would never concede goals. Our defence has gone from adequate to poor; never exceptional.
During our promotion runs, we had a strong scoring element to the team that outweighed any defensive misgivings. A combination of adequate defence and good goal scoring makes for the more exciting football that we enjoyed. Strong defence and adequate attack would mean a lot of draws and 1-0 wins.
Put me down for 4-3 win every time ;-)

It must be down to a disagreement somewhere with Brush and Ron or someone else, as I'm sure Ron understands that although Tilly has god like status amongst many of us, Brush was not far behind and his dismisal would not meet with much approval.

Well green and gold were the colours Newton Heath so I think it only applies to them

Yeah i get'cha but its the 'symbol' of fans against the owners, if we could get something similar up and going and make some money from it, it could go to the shrimpers trust.

Could be an idea but what colour would you use?

I share exactly the same, enough is enough

And you know the worst bit about it?

I might be able to stomach news like this if we was given an explanation of what has happened behind the scenes. Be we aren't, and thats the hardest part.
Maybe brush has done something that breaches his contract, and maybe he does deserve to be sacked, but until the details are released I personally think Ron has gone mad.

I have been a massive admirer of Ron, and I would normally stick by him through what appeared to be a rough time - but this time, quite frankly, takes the pish.

Ron Martin - Explanation or sale needed now. You're choice.

It's complete speculation as to what's happened with Brushy, and I'm as frustrated as anyone. However it's still crucial to focus on the fact that RM is set to lose more than anyone if SUFC get's ruined. He's pumped in huge amounts of personal wealth, and he needs the club to be successful for his gamble to pay out. I'd take a guess that if SUFC is ****ed, then so is he. I'd rather have a chairman who's interests are intrinsically linked like this, than have a short-term owner who is looking to quickly dry-rape us.

Now I agree that it's frustrating/strange/worrying, that he's been pumping money in, we're still in limbo about the stadium, and that we are in imminent danger of being relegated... HOWEVER, I don't think we have any other option. If RM was to leave, we'd go into administration, be relegated, lose our squad and we'd not have an old ground, a new ground, no owner and I doubt we'd be attractive to any new owner(s).

Basically we're between a rock and a hard place. This is the time for fans to stick together and work on supporting the team. I can't see what a protest will achieve, I'm sure RM is focussed on sorting things out... a protest will detract from him focussing on the Winding up order/the new ground/cash flow. I'm sure he knows how frustrated and worried we all are.

I personally support the shareholders looking to force an EGM.

This isn't necessarily true. This is what Ron has told us, and unfortunately many people have taken it too literally.

You seem to forget, that it's not the state of the team or even the League we're in that will make Ron rich. It is actually building the stadium/retail outlets/supermarket/casino/hotel, and subsequent rent that will make him rich.

In football terms, a matchday profit is an added bonus for Ron. Of course, the higher League we're in, the more profit, but it's not the be all and end all at the moment, the important part is actually getting the construction underway, then worry about the team as and when...

If he has done something to justify his dismissal in breach of contract, he wouldn't be entitled to a pay off. But that's not what the official statement said. Far from it.

Thats the difficult one... Yellow and Blue is obvious choice...

another

Red = to symbolize we that the fans are the life and blood of the club

its difficult, but i just like the idea that the fans who agree with the protest can have something to show and that symbolizes there pain and disagreement with what is happening at the club.

if there was a problem with the coaching - with Brush - you could have done soemthing without blowing it up -

nah RM is blowing it apart on purpose -

hes a very shrewd businessmanand hes doing it cos he wants to take the club down so he can keep the money from Sainsburys and mug us off with a joke stadium round the back of a few shops down a lane

I'd find it very difficult to disagree more. Saying "well he bought these players and shouldn't moan" is like saying that you shouldn't complain if your hundred quid, 25 year old Cortina breaks down. He signed these players because he's been shopping in the bargain basement. The honest Pros that he has signed are doing their best (as Charlton and Norwich proved), but they need to be suplemented with one or two players of genuine class and he's not been able to bring that sort of player in.

We have a tiny squad, which means that players who would have been squad players a few years ago have had to play week in week out. The lack of numbers has meant players playing out of position, players playing when 50% fit, players playing when clearly in need of a rest, players playing when clearly out of form. He signed these players but not to play in these circumstances.

As I said before, I think it's impossible to seperate the failings of the Management team from the circumstances that they have had to work with. Yes, other Clubs would have sacked their manager had they had these results, but other Clubs have more than a handful of players and they certainly pay those players.

Man for man there's no footballing reason why these players should not be good enough to stay up. There's very few who I'd say are playing above their level. But in the absense of any single player with a bit of class, with the sheer number of changes that have been made, with the transfer embargos which have curtailed our efforts to even bring in yet more loan signings and the inability to pay the few players we actually have, I ask again who could have done better?

One final point. We've had one Permanent Centre-Half on the books since last summer. One. If you think that that is down to Steve Tilson then you're bonkers. Bonkers, I say.

Well, we rarely see eye to eye on most matters, so it doesnt surprise me you find this (or me) 'bonkers'. :)

I have stated that I dont particularly blameT&B for this season and agree, that not having a permanent CB for that length of time is actually bonkers.

Just because the money isnt there, doesnt automatically mean Tilson is absolved of all blame though. Why did he keep signing strikers? I'm sure we could have picked up an out-of-contract CB at some stage in the last 12-18 months - other clubs managers scrimp around.

How about the Paterson deal? Sure its easy to look back in hindsight now, but surely the chance was there to get a defender from Saints instead of Paterson - when we already are top heavy on forwards.

Just to dwel on this point a little bit, Tilson and Brush had some quality replacements/loan signings in place - but Ron Martin refuses to pay the players parent club more than 15% of a players wages.

With M'Voto we are very lucky (or something like that!), to have had his loan extended to the end of the season by sunderland. Steve Bruce has been very good to us, seeing as we haven't paid a single penny towards M'Voto's contract whilst he's been here. Baring in mind we're only paying him £500 a week of his contract, with Sunderland paying the rest - its very surprising to see that Sunderland agreed to extend it - given they haven't recieved a penny we owe them.

That makes no sense whatsoever......

Well the Echo website is now saying that there is going to be an interview with Paul Brush in tomorrows edition so it will be interesting to hear his side of the story.
