Pato hasn't been that bad in his brief apperances this season. A couple of the games he played in, the whole team was pretty average and the strikers didn't get a touch. A few goals and some signs of promise, more than Midson (excl Cheltenham) & German. He'll be on a decent contract, certainly a lot more than most of the current side, so I can understand why we need to get rid of him. Gone about it in completely the wrong way.

hi guys, just wanting the SP on Paterson . . . from what i've been reading some of you clearly rate him but maybe internal politics have stifled his career at Roots Hall?

I too want him to succeed at County but that fat lady has the garglin' juice in her throat and i don't see her putting off her singing voice . . . alas we fear the worse :stunned:

You guys seem to be clear of the relegation mire . . . hope you finish the season in a better position than us, lol it's not gonna be hard to be honest . . . good luck guys

It's my opinion that Paterson is given more shrift by certain quarters because he's a Tilson player. If Sturrock had signed him in the Summer, he would've been hounded out of the club by now. He's certainly a good player, but he lacks the all-round game to have an impact within the system we play as he's not big enough to dominate aerially or hold the ball up. He's a bit slight of built, but has great stamina.

I am desperately disappointed that Pato has been allowed to leave. I am hearing it is nothing to do with him being a Tilly player, but all to do with his wages. He is one of the highly paid players at the club - Tara Brady wants his wages, simples. So what you do is make it as difficult as possible for the lad to be here, no pay, train with youths, bench him for the ressies, slag him off in the press etc... this destroys any confidence and the lad walks, the club don't have to pay any severance money and TB is a happy little accoutant.

The more I listen to TB and see what he is doing, the more I am fearful for this club. The man is an asset stripper, and that's exactly what he's doing.

Never given the pitch time his obvious talents deserved, I for one hope he rips it up at Stockport and goes onto bigger and better things.

We're never going to agree on this, but clearing out a player who is on the sort of money who we could get two or maybe even three players in with (if the rumour that he was on £1.5k a week apx is true) who the Manager obviously doesn't rate and who has a terrible league goalscoring record in the games he has had surely has to be a good thing.

Hopefully Asante gets a chance tomorrow.

He has talent, he can score, he's got a good touch, he needs games!

Some lofty allegations there, TB...

As for Brady being an "asset" (outgoing) stripper, isn't that exactly what a business losing on average £100kp/m needs?

No allegations just observations - I like the lad, and think he's got potential - just hasn't been given the pitch time to showit.

I am very wary of TB and all he says!!

Unfortunately for the lad he has been left on the bench when the manager has decided to stick with his son and one of his own strikers - that is football unfortunately. I didn't agree with it, and I really hope that he goes to you and bags a couple of goals and comes back to us firing and demanding a starting spot!!

You guys just need a couple of wins and get on a bit of a roll, still cannot see you in the Conference - best of luck!

There was me thinking we were short up front??? Hopefully PS won't bring in another **** loanee. Can understand if it's purely to cut down on wages. Good luck to him, a good run in the team and he'll finish the season well.

Just don't get losing Pato - he has the ability and just wasn't played because he's on too much money? Find this all very weird and can't quite work out what's happening at my club at the moment.

Good luck to the lad.

May not be the last out the door either.

Young Mr Herd maybe off to a Blue Square Prem side shortly...

He wasn't not played because he was on too much money, he wasn't playing because he was ill, injured and not that great when he did play!

That is 100% fact I would say....PS does not rate him so the club wants him gone and the best way to get rid is force him out...he was/is the biggest earner leftover from last year (Grant excluded I would think)..so they want to cut costs by getting him off the books....we may even be paying half his wages at Stockport to ease our pain.

I cannot see the club rushing out to replace him or Spencer in a hurry. A: who would want to come here and B: we have no money.

Wouldn't that be a wise financial decision, then? Paterson's not going to get a game ahead of Corr, Sturrock, Crawford and even Mohsni, so what's he doing here on the rumoured £1.5kp/w? We've needed to get the higher earners of the books for some time.

We are a lot more attractive to a player at this time than in the summer I would say.

I did not say it was not a wise decision , it is just the way our club goes about these things that ****es me off.

I don't think he's mentally or physically ready for league football.

Never seemed fully fit last season, he lacked the strength to play league one football. League two is even more physical and I've seen nothing to suggest he's got any stronger. His best two performances came in the first round of the League Cup and Johnstone Paint, which is in itself quite telling, because these games aren't as physical because teams don't take them as seriously. Paterson desperately needs to beef up, but he seems to struggle to stay fit and it's not so much muscle injuries as things like flu. Not sure what it is with Scottish strikers they seem to be quite sickly, Andy Thomson (who I liked) was the same and Blair can't play 90 minutes or consecutive games either. I keep on expecting to hear Paterson has been ruled out with an injured big thing.

Mentally he's one of the weakest players I've seen for a long time. His head drops nearly as easily as Wayne Gray's did (and I'm talking as much about as under Tilson as under Sturrock before Travelling Blue blames it all on Sturrock) and his reading of the game is very poor. He looks as if he's been fairly well coached at Southampton and so will make intelligent looking runs but it is very formulaic and he doesn't seem to react or anticipate play very well at all. This might be because he's chronically indecisive and he spends too long weighing up options rather than trusting his instinct. This in turn could be confidence related, but his fragile confidence would then be a concern.

I'd guess he's at least 12 months away from being properly able to contribute and am not at all sad to see him depart on loan. He might turn into a decent player, but he looks a long way off from that at the moment, despite the occasional neat footwork.

He does take a very good penalty though.

Completely and utter disagree with more of your tripe.

Paterson has only had six starts. Two of them he was battered by bigger and tougher defenders fair enough. Two he held his own and played well. The other two he was MOTM scoring two in each of them. Two against a pretty ordinary Barnet side and two against Championship Bristol City. He looked neither lightweight nor mentally soft in these games.

Your description of the lad is just plainly made up. He had tonsilitus followed by a serous back spasm - get it right. Also if he was too beef up more as you say, he would lose that mobility that he has, that's his ace, he is very mobile and finds good space around the front line, has excellent feet and knows where the back of the net is. He has been bombed out because he's on too much money and Sturrock doesn't see him as competition against his son Blair and Barry Corr, both who have struggled recently. I can understand it if the manager doensn't take to you, I have no problem with that, but to treat him the way he has allegedly been treated and then to read some of the inane comments and attempts to agree with his treatment is simply wrong.

If he had been given a run of games - say twelve starts - he would be banging them in now, and the pathetic attempts of the SZ 'we know everything uber-posters' to undermine the kid is again simply wrong.

Don't forget - he's only gone for a month. He will be back, probably after reading this crap and the way he has been treated he won't want to come back, but he's got 18 months left on his contract, so unless TB pays him off he's still our player.

Just hate the way we completley desteroy players, especially those who have something, why do we chase them away?

Eh? Mohsni seems to have come on leaps and bounds since joining the club, as have the likes of Clohessy and Hall. We've a fairly good track record of developing players before selling them on, especially in recent years. Look at Barnard, he was as fragile as china when he arrived, yet we worked with him and turned him into a solid goalscorer.

He's had 13 league starts. That's a quarter of our league games since he arrived.

Mohsni is a good example of finding someone from nowhere! He will be gone on the summer.
Clohessy has I will agree been solid all season. Will he stay in the summer?
Hall is a good player, but his morale compass is somewhat lacking.

As for Barney, it took him four years to get good, goals and out of here - Pato's been her what, just over half a season?

Especially on here, most posters seem to spend their time putting over crass over the top observations of our players in stead of getting behind them and praising them and trying to show them a little confidence, I in particular, am beginning to loathe this messageboard and some of the tripe that is written on it.
