Hope he keeps them up and then comes back and does the business for us.
He has got a lot of potential but he just needs games to prove it and bring it out of him!

Good luck Patto!

If that's the case, then fair play... He's showing a desire to get match fit and sharp and it'll do him no harm, not only physically and mentally, but in the eyes of PS, too. Crawford showed a willingness to get sharp and came back raring to go. This is, IMO, where Spencer probably went wrong.

Been trying to think, has anyone gone out on loan and come back an improved player and 'done the business for us'?

Good luck to him. He is another in an ever increasing line of players /mostly strikers that fail to do well here and then do well elsewhere.

He was quite highly thought of at saints and i honestly believe he could hit 20 goals in the league with a good run in a side.

Hopefully we can now bring someone in as we are desperately short upfront.
Another player imo who will in the end do well away from Roots Hall.

At the end of the day, for whatever reason, he was not going to be appearing for us in the foreseeable future, so is probably best for him to be out of here and playing, and allows us to free up his wage for someone who hopefully will play.

I don't agree with this. He looked good at the beginning of the season, got a few goals then fell out of favour and hasn't had many chances since then. I happen to think he's our best striker overall, he just needs confidence and a good run. He's got talent, he's one of the few players in our squad who has come from a higher league and this move leaves us with only 3 strikers, meaning Sturrock will have to bring someone in and if German and Midson are anything to go by, that's not good news. It seems like Sturrock just wants to get rid of any traces of Tilson. I bet he'll do well there.

Completely Agree , same as spencer he never got the chance ! Hopefully Matt will do well at stockport and will come back to and play in the first team rather than be on the BENCH for the reserves :duh:

shrimpboy - make you right about those from the tilson era, grant is the only player of that era who has really had a look in under PS. Spencer Gone, Pato out on loan and hardly played not at all in last 3 months, and herd only called upon when there really is nobody else to call upon, Herd and Pato will be following Spencer out of Roots Hall in summer of that there is no doubt

1st paragraph - Possible but I doubt it.
2nd paragraph - They got rid of him pretty quick. My Southampton supporting mate was all 'meh' about it. His miss for us at St Mary's in May had even our fans singing 'That's why we're going down'.
3rd paragraph - Agreed. Which is clearly why this was done.

I'm sure that you had a wry smile on your face when you heard this news. Are you happy now that there's no one to force Blair onto the bench? Harry and Asante won't be given much pitch time. Do you think any 'non' Sturrock striker would want to join us?

I am desperately disappointed that Pato has been allowed to leave. I am hearing it is nothing to do with him being a Tilly player, but all to do with his wages. He is one of the highly paid players at the club - Tara Brady wants his wages, simples. So what you do is make it as difficult as possible for the lad to be here, no pay, train with youths, bench him for the ressies, slag him off in the press etc... this destroys any confidence and the lad walks, the club don't have to pay any severance money and TB is a happy little accoutant.

The more I listen to TB and see what he is doing, the more I am fearful for this club. The man is an asset stripper, and that's exactly what he's doing.

Never given the pitch time his obvious talents deserved, I for one hope he rips it up at Stockport and goes onto bigger and better things.

To be honest, is it really a bad thing? Getting rid of a player that when he is given a start, he doesn't really show much.

I think that he could have something with a run of games, but is it really worth paying him a lot when he isn't getting in the side?
I thought he would do well in League 2, but he hasn't been given a run of games because he hasn't performed that well when he has been given a chance, and Sturrock obviously thinks Blair, Corr, Crawford and possibly Asante coming through are better CHEAPER alternatives, with also the possibility of bringing in someone good on loan for less money!!

Some lofty allegations there, TB...

As for Brady being an "asset" (outgoing) stripper, isn't that exactly what a business losing on average £100kp/m needs?

Has that happened? And how would that encourage another club to take him on?

hi guys, just wanting the SP on Paterson . . . from what i've been reading some of you clearly rate him but maybe internal politics have stifled his career at Roots Hall?

I too want him to succeed at County but that fat lady has the garglin' juice in her throat and i don't see her putting off her singing voice . . . alas we fear the worse :stunned:

You guys seem to be clear of the relegation mire . . . hope you finish the season in a better position than us, lol it's not gonna be hard to be honest . . . good luck guys
