Are we possibly reading too much into this? Perhaps it is simply a resourcing issue - if, say, Steve Kavanagh has to do all the final negotiations maybe he hasn't got the time to spend getting the McLaughlin deal over the line if Phil urgently wants a Centre Back in time for tomorrow and he's got to negotiate with three separate championship clubs/players/agents etc.

I agree, some people are looking into this too much with regards to embargos, and player limits etc but I don't believe this bit either.

Before last season, didn't we sign a number of players on the same day? Actually, I think it was the season before with Craig Reid and Conor Clifford.

I agree that the signing of a centre back is more pressing, with Bolger's injury on Wednesday night, but if we are still confident of landing McLaughlin and still want him, why not press ahead with the deal at the same time? It seems that he was going to be signing today, and we are delaying it because of the need to sign a centre back.

This will give McLaughlin the chance to speak to the two League Two sides interested, and if they make it feel like he is wanted and want to press ahead ASAP, then we risk the chance of losing him.

Oh how we miss League two.... We'd still have BBBC, lots of local away games and plenty of sh&te opposition where it wouldn't matter who played at CB..!! :tease:

Embargos do come and go, and you can even have multiple ones.

I know that, but the point I was making is we have made multiple signings on one day before, so I don't believe the reason McLaughlin won't sign today is because we are signing a defender on loan and it's too much work to do on one day as someone else suggested.

Brown really does my head in. All talk no action. "We're STILL interested in THIS player", "A deal isn't too far away", "We're hoping to have a new signing on board before Saturday". Either put up or shut up Brown, you're boring. I get that ultimately signing a player is out of his control and down to finances but he does talk the talk doesn't he and rarely delivers. Just like when he says Jack Payne is in my thinking, next game, BENCH. I will make changeS, next game - 1 change.

CPs latest tweets saying:

Thompson is out training with the first team today.

PB in talks with a prem club about taking a defender on loan.

Prosser most likely to start with loan defender starting on the bench.

Do you think Phil Brown is a manager that doesn't want to sign players? or do you think Phil Brown is under strict instructions not to tell the truth from the Chairman? Phil is hounded every day about new players, what do you want him to say? 'sure im interested in this player and that player, but theirs no real point me looking as we don't have a pot to **** in..... or this scenario : Reporter... Phil you've scored 1 wonder goal in four games, presumably you are worried and are looking at bringing in strikers? Phil, NO.........

honestly anyone who thinks its Phil Browns fault need their head examined

I sincerely hope that both you and shrimpergarry are right and me and other posters are over reacting. At least, in little over a week, we should know the answer.

Frustrating, I know but by 'talking the talk' perhaps it's the only recourse he has, in order to put pressure on the powers that be?

Silence speaks a thousand words.

Corr was excellent in clearing corners:winking:

So is this...

Oh sorry, I thought you said cleaning corners:blush:.
Having said that I do think we could do with a new sweeper (my old position).

I reckon I could call more than 4 people in the space of a day.....I'm not panicked at all just seems odd we can't get mcgouglin deal done and get a CB in on loan....surely SK not the only person involved in transfers???

Nah, I'm pretty happy with what I wrote actually. Thanks though.

Did you miss this part by the way... "I get that ultimately signing a player is out of his control and down to finances but he does talk the talk doesn't he and rarely delivers."

Ok so what exactly do you want him to say when asked questions then? What's wrong with him saying he has certain transfer targets and when he hopes to have them in by?

Some people will take any excuse to have a good old moan at Brown (who just got us promoted for those with short term memory) It's ******* ridiculous and boring.
