Sturrock used to use the same tactic so 2 incompetent managers I guess.
RE the long throw, every manager will know this ploy, why not shake it up and do a quick short throw where the reciever knocks it straight into the mix.

Brown: "I don’t think anyone new will come in before tomorrow's game but one definitely will before Saturday."
Well, before Saturday leaves little more than 24hours. Hang on, perhaps PB has been learning a thing or two from Ron......................................he didn't say THIS Saturday.

I don't think the issue this season is the mindset of the manager, I think the issue is that the manager has so many good midfielders that he doesn't know yet how to get the most out of them. To me last night was all about trying to squeeze as many talented midfielders into the team as possible, and even then he couldn't find room for Wordsworth or Payne.
We've a bunch of creative midfielders and we've three strikers all with a lot of ability. Brown needs to find a way to get the most out of both.
I think last night's team was about trying to pack the midfield and get a 0-0.
What I'd question is how many players are told to get beyond the ball? If Worrall beats his man and puts in a cross how many players are there going to be in the area to get on the end of it? If Mooney wins a header, who's going to get on the end of it. The players look as if they're drilled on how to get back into defensive position, but not on how to gamble and take up forward attacking positions. Where are the players like Hall, Mohsni, Ferdinand etc? There's Worrall and that's pretty much it, which is why I hope McLaughlin signs.
Otherwise that line-up looks to me reliant on set pieces and long range efforts for goals. And when there's not much in the way of height and aerial presence to get on the end of set pieces goals are going to be difficult to come by.
And Atkinson.

Could we not have a sub-forum titled Whinge Fest for the Victors and Victorias leaving the others available for the topic?
I think we know what is needed, and more importantly PB does as well, however finding players that actually improve what we have is not easy- I am happy that based on who has come in so far PB is looking fr quality and improvements- this time of year its very easy to make a number of signings just for the sake of it..
Really pfffffttttt:blush:
So the signing for the weekend was McLaughin but its been put on hold so we can bring in a defender.
