How do you know that it only took 2 days? There has probably been weeks of negotiations. I was aware of this transfer by just catching the odd bit of news on the radio or internet at least 10 days ago.

It wasn't, Jose, giving Pedro a quick call on Wednesday saying how great West London is, and is much better than Barcelona, especially if you don't like the beach, how about a quick trip over to sign on, but the offer will self destruct in 2 days if he doesn't.

I really wish this PB and SUFC bashing on this site would stop, its seriously getting me to question reading it and deleting my profile.

Woah woah woah sweet child o'mine! At what point was I 'bashing' the club or PB? It was just a simple question as to why does it take us so long when other clubs seem to be able to do quick business. Chelsea were never mentioned until Ed Woodward had spoken to Barcelona and Pedro, 2 days later he signs for Chelsea.

Just had it confirmed that the club is defo not under embargo. Talks are ongoing with a few possible targets including Mclaughlin. The defender situ supersedes the Mclaughlin deal as this is the priority at the moment. Even after hearing this im baffled why if the Mclauglin deal was all but done two days ago, why he isnt signing as well as the defender. I would also say on that basis that a striker is more priority than Mclaughlin as well

He has has fielded a strong bench in every game we have played.

We made 6 changes to play Brighton and still put out a strong team and played very well.

He is still a few players from having a full squad, but he has had plenty of options to choose from.

Brown really does my head in. All talk no action. "We're STILL interested in THIS player", "A deal isn't too far away", "We're hoping to have a new signing on board before Saturday". Either put up or shut up Brown, you're boring. I get that ultimately signing a player is out of his control and down to finances but he does talk the talk doesn't he and rarely delivers. Just like when he says Jack Payne is in my thinking, next game, BENCH. I will make changeS, next game - 1 change.

I guess it takes time to get hold of agents if they are representing many players, prepare and shuffle paperwork through lawyers/club secretaries/etc.

I didn't realise that, thought it was a case of the usual let's sign him so no one else does. Like they do with a lot of players.

We will though, he has had to change targets due to circumstances changing.

The problem is Chris has to file Southend news every day. And some days, nothing happens. In this age of twitter, SZ, etc, everyone demands instant information. And Phil has to say something.

If Webby was around, the interviews would be shorter and more direct.
