New hattrick season

Bum, i got dumped out of the cup this week. Back on league matters 1 win and two draws isn't the best start in the world but I still believe I should win the league. Achieving around 210 ave hatstats - which have always been of less relevance to me as a defence trainer. Averaging around 57 stars which puts me well clear. Most opps have a couple of superstars and will be crippled with injuries and suspensions. I just need one more reserve IM to fall back on if needed.

Promotion might have to be via a playoff and I'd have to be desperately unlucky to draw a strong team. Looking at Alltid and the strength of other Div 4 line ups posted here I'm not too far behind and would certainly be able to strengthen one or two areas with trainee sales before next season. Seeing as I started light years behind the rest of you I am most encouraged.

Can't really work out what this rollof honour is for but if it for playing at level V (hopeful :D ), we may need to be adding Southsea Commoners to the list.

In spite of pretty much zero input from me, the table looks like:

Series: VI.225 (6828)

Country: England
Level: 6 out of 7

Team Played Goals Points
1. Southsea Commoners 5 27 - 1 15
2. Plastic Spoons 5 21 - 3 12
3. Steel Window 5 20 - 6 12
4. samuraicrew 5 6 - 11 6
5. barnwood 5 7 - 14 6
6. Ravin' Ravens 5 5 - 18 4
7. Featherstone Lions 5 4 - 15 3
8. .LIVERPOOL.FC 5 4 - 26 1

It's a list based on start date, you'd be just behind Davros having started 18/3/05.

My season has been promising thus far, won my first 3 games but then lost to the league leaders. Having MOTSed that game I ended up losing my cup match and the next league game but recovered today with a hard fought 3-2 away win to go back into second. Would be more than happy to stay there in my first season in IV.

Also managed to pull a prodigious 15yo defender who pulled 6 stars in his first match, could be a money spinner in a season and a half as the first training report said he had a lot of potential.

Off to Tunisia on Wednesday, my 80th flag. Still a mile behind Mr GNH who seems to be weaseling friendlies in all sorts of obscure territories!

Hmmmmmm - this season isn't panning out as I would hope.

Only got 11 points after 6 games and in 4th 2points behind leader. A bizarre defeat last week costing me top spot. Got an interesting couple of weeks ahead. Win both games and I still fancy promotion. Debating whether to strengthen the team, but with a massive wage bill already I might hold back for a bit, though I have a Supernatural defender selling tonight - currently up to 1.342 Mill and hoping for in excess of 1.5 for him.

Well this season is turning into a disaster - after winning last week I sold a couple of players and added £ to the wage bill with a titanic IM to cement 2nd spot and an end of season showdown at home for promotion. first ever 50K sellout yesterday and lost 3-1. Down to 4th and 5 pts behind leaders. Now need a miracle but may just write off season and downgrade for wage saving

Drew 2-2 against the bottom team on a PIC.

I blame complacency. I'm not going up this season as the top team is rated 41st best team in the country this week (he PIC-ed as well), and I'm trying to maximise my training as a result. I also didn't bother to check where this team was from, and missed that it was a derby which negated my home advantage which I was relying on when I PIC-ed.

Just smashed my club record transfer to sign this guy:

Jamie Knight [playerid=61306075]

26 years and 69 days, inadequate form, bruised, but training
A sympathetic guy who is fiery and honest.
Has weak experience and poor leadership abilities.

Next birthday: 12/02/2008
Nationality: England
Total Skill Index (TSI): 62 950
Wage: 26 648 £/week including 20% Bonus

Stamina: solid Goalkeeping: disastrous
Playmaking: titanic Passing: excellent
Winger: weak Defending: passable
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: mythical

£2.1m is a ridiculous amount of money, but I needed a new set piece taker, to upgrade my midfield and his passing is nice as well.

Well, I play 3-4-3 AIM, so my rather narrow side looks like this...

Gk - Extra-Terrestrial
WB - Magnificent
WB - Titanic (inad wing)
CD - Titanic
IM - Magnificent (solid passing)
IM - Titanic ( passable passing)
IM - Titanic
W(TM) - Magnificent PM
CF - Supernatural (+ inad passing, + titanic SP)
CF - Magnificent (age 21)
CF - Formidable (age 19)

In two minds about what to do with training. I might well flog all my strikers and start up a new training regime... but what should I train?

As for strengthening the side, I haven't yet the cash to do that... only £380K in the bank at the mo.

Matt

What are your other trainees like?

I'd suggest selling off a couple of trainees and replacing them with wingers to train as forwards towards wing. You can play one of them on the wing in your league game then up front in your cup/friendly game. That way you save on wages and transfer fees. Otherwise I think you'll struggle under the new match engine with no width.

I'd also consider selling the titanic WB and cheaper replacement - probably world class.

If you had more money you could consider switching to something like defence (train up some wingers, IMs and a keeper in defending as a secondary), or PM (train up wingers, defenders and a defensive forward with technical speciality and passing in play-making).

Just had an enquiry from the Finnish scout about my 21yo FTW (they're obviously keen on multi skills now). Doubt he's good enough due to the passing but nice to have the interest:

Riko Rekonen
TSI = 36 940 , 21 years and 30 days, inadequate form
Has weak experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Unpredictable]

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: wretched Passing: poor
Winger: outstanding Defending: inadequate
Scoring: magnificent Set pieces: weak

Matt & Matt, looks like I'm now scouting defenders for the EYA, your guys Phil Nash and Chris Johnston are still on the radar, any inside info on them?

He's just got 4.5 stars as an offensive midfielder.

Also worth scouting from my team is Joseph Clarkson, who got 6.5 stars in his last game in central defence and has just got 5.5 stars as an EIM. He's only 15 and 68 days.

2 days younger is hot prospect at defending Andre Sheridan, who without any further winger training will remain with inadequate wing.

I'm going to promote Rio Davies in a week or 2 when he's been in my squad long enough.

Bugger me - wages now up to £188K, though I'm still even on that with a 2 week cycle. Currently 4th but only 3 points between top 4 teams. Could well come down to the last game of the season so I'll keep the squad for now and just trim down if I slip up again. In between seasons I'm gonna have to take a long hard look at wages. Teams are just as succesful on 60% of those wages and I think I need a combination of home grown talent and a bit more focus on experience rather than just raw primary and secondary skills.

The Youth Academy is coming into its own for me now. Last week sold a youth pull for £238,000 and today have one listed with a few hours left and the current price stands just shy of £550,000! Along with my new cack team with no wages at all and making about £300-400k every fortnight i will soon be hitting £15m in funds to decide what to do with

Have sold only one player from my youth system and was rather pleased with £200,000.

This will take my total YA sales to about £900,000 which is very nice indeed. I also have a keeper who will be maxed out by his 17th birthday to solid so should net a fair bit for him to

went for an impresive £668,000 which takes my YA earning over £1,000,000. woo and indeed hoo

Hopefully this fellow will outdo your £668,000:

Phil Nash [playerid=189893282]
17 years and 3 days, passable form, healthy
A sympathetic guy who is balanced and honest.
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities.

Next birthday: 07/05/2008

Total Skill Index (TSI): 1 750
Wage: 380 £/week

Stamina: weak Goalkeeping: disastrous

He's about to be listed.
