Nelson Mandela Dead

If you wanted to look at a true saviour then Gandhi for example did similar to NM without the need to be involved in a militia movement.

And if you want to see what NM could have become if he hadn't have walked out of prison and said "let bygones be bygones", look no further than our very good friend Mugabe.

I have only just come to this thread. I know I shouldn't' be surprised but even by SZ standards it amazes me how many people have very strong views on a subject that they know very little about ,and are not prepared to do much more than 5 minutes research. I have only read one book on Mandela (Invictus) and only know one White SA family and therefore I know my knowledge is far too small to start to come on here and start stating my opinions as 'facts'

FYI- those using Churchill as a comparison heres my 5 mins of research :winking:- the below looks quite interesting might want to use some of the pieces here,

Re Bomber command, I have always found is interesting that Harris took all the blame and Churchill came though unscathed, as the man who stopped the raids (that he himself had authorized).

Were you one of those people complaining about them interrupting Mrs Brown's Boys to go to coverage of Mandela's death?

Apparently, when he was released in 1990, BBC 's live coverage interupted Antiques Roadshow (or whatever it's called) and the Beeb got a record number of complaints.:stunned:

Were you one of those people complaining about them interrupting Mrs Brown's Boys to go to coverage of Mandela's death?

Nope but quite frankly the coverage on front page of BBC website is no longer necessary

Anybody complaining about a premature end to that ***** - least of all for the announcement of such an event - needs to have their television(s) confiscated.

Agreed on Mugabe.

So as I see it, NM all be it indirectly is responsible for multiple deaths and therefore even if he goes on to discover the key to internal life for my mind he is never worthy of the praise we have seen of him. Did some great things yes, did some terrible things yes.

Wonder how we would feel if it was one of our families that had been killed by the ANC, would you be so willing to let bygones be bygones. Or one of the 70,000 white farmers that I read had been killed since the ANC came into power. Not blaming NM for the deaths directly but I still think he had blood on his hands.

Had Bin Laden been caught and then become an advocate of peace does that later in life make him an ok chap? Do we ignore the 4000 people that died in 9/11 - after all Bin Laden didn't directly plant the bomb?

It's the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

I think that is why people do see him as great... People like Gandhi and Mother Teresa were almost too perfect and so Mandela gives hope that actually you can change, seek forgiveness and help build a better world. Just reading through here, there is a real lack of facts about what 'bad things' he supposedly did. Some very good analogies, and some very poor ones too.

To perfect in so much as they weren't the head of an organisation that bombed and killed at will? I agree I hate those bloody pacifists - fancy using peaceful protest.

If you wanted to look at a true saviour then Gandhi for example did similar to NM without the need to be involved in a militia movement.

Is that the same Gandhi that actively helped recruit Indians during the First World War?

Mandela FC was the nickname given to Winnies security .
They were the ones who carried out the murder of Stompie Mckenzie on WMs orders
I think the affairs were generally with higher ranking ANC officers

Pretty sure there is a video on p0rnhub that suggests otherwise.....

Where did you get that load of nonsense from?
