Breaking News Monies paid to HMRC..Now on the OS

I don't see that at all H, the monies were paid to one of his companies then paid to HMRC....the source of it is still in doubt.I can not imagine for one minute he had it laying about in some account unless he has hocked everything he has.

Maybe so. I did see him at the cash point earlier wearing a hopeful expression.

oh uncle ron is so great, i want to massage his lorealed hair.

Seriously though, we still owe someone the money. Maybe not hmrc, but sainsburys or MD / SEL. Doesn't improve our balance sheet position, but hopefully opens the doors for the new ground to continue, which hopefully improves profits (but for who..)

Wouldn't Sainsburys be paying SEL anyway as opposed to SUFC? And unless i am mistaken SEL is one of Ron's other businesses.

Hmmm, good point. Surely the money from Sainsbury would be paid to Roots Hall Limited which own the Roots Hall site, and not the football club per se. Out of interest, IIRC when the ground was sold back in 1999, RHL was a a joint venture between Martin Dawn plc and Delancey Southend Limited. Anyone know if that is still the case after Delancey sold their interest in SEL?

So Just 22 hours after the Zone announced it the OS fall in place.

Southend United Football Club has today issued the following statement:

The Club's Chairman, Ron Martin, has today (3pm) confirmed that one of his Group Companies has now paid, in full, the tax due to HMRC in the sum of £2.1m thereby removing the threat of administration.

The funds were being held by the Revenue's solicitors and at lunchtime today they have been released.

A further, more detailed, statement will be made next week.

OK= so what that really means is they will be paid on Monday (the banking system that will be used to make the payment is not open on Saturdays)- lets hope they dont XXXX up the paperwork.

Good news regardless

Well if another legal entity has paid money owed by SUFC Ltd then it will have drastically improved our Balance Sheet. Maybe it's in a a loan, I guess we'll see.

What this news says to me is that the developments at Fossetts Farm and, especially, at Roots Hall, are now full steam ahead. There's just too much money invested in this now for it not to happen.

seems that way to me to, in a kind of "we have no choice way" although wheres all the money gonna come from?? and theres still the matter of 3 or 4 seasons of loss making to come even if we get in there?
for now tho, i guess its one step at a time, and we should just be relieved that were not going into admin.

does this mean we can get some players in now, three minimum please, otherwise the good work we have done could be undone in the league

indeed....especially after todays performance. Not sure if it was players not being overly interested, distractions of the week past or the missing players today. Quite clear today we need more experienced options rather than throwing in players who arent ready just yet.

We've been due a tanking for a while - there's only so any times you can ask the same small group of players to perform. We need a centre-half in desperately and then we need some options so that the Manager doesn't have to pick the same players every week regardless of form and knocks. A fullback, a winger and I guess a striker are needed.

Let's hope we get a few loan players in -- especially lads whose clubs pay their wages as we don't have a very good record for paying wages at the moment.

Strange timing if you ask me, there we were off supporting the team, there was Ron, GK and Garry Adamson at least of the board and suddenly the official statement is released? Very strange.
