Question Moncur & Bonne...time to cut our losses and get rid?!?

I think the timing since both arrived things started to go wrong. I would sooner spend any money jettisoning these 2 charlatans, trying to improve team spirit and getting in 2 up-and-coming youngsters from the lower leagues.
I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago. They seem like typical late era Phil Brown signings, both remind me of Ricky Holmes, signing ‘has beens’, which is the complete opposite of what’s happened previously under Maher.

Moncur has gone backwards since a promising start. Bonne has improved, but I don’t like his attitude, when things go wrong he throws arms in the air and blames others.

I doubt either will be here next season and I’d play other options if they’re better. I found Coker being dropped for Moncur perverse. Bonne for Walker less so, Bonne has linked well with Pepple, so I’d probably start him for now.

A complaint prior to their signings was us only signing "inexperienced part timers". Both of these signings whilst not setting the world alight right now offer that experience. With the right formation and tactics they *could* come good but I do agree they have been poor signings so far.

I'm not going to start blaming them for how crap it's going right now though and getting rid of them won't suddenly make Husin find a teammate with a pass, get Miley match fit again, Pepple win a header from the 15th over hit cross from GSM or improve Collins distribution etc. There are a lot of things that need addressing and it starts with the tactics and starting the form players in the right roles (Such as what @rayleigh dan pointed out Coker being dropped for Moncur was ridiculous)

Team Spirit and Togetherness might improve by getting rid for a start. I should have thought they're on quite good wages compared to others in the squad.

Easy to blame these two. We win and lose as a team. There’s others who haven’t been at their best. Ok Moncur hasn’t had the effect we’d hoped for after a promising start but Bonne I think had honestly started improving and building up a good understanding with Pepple before being inexplicably dropped for Walker.

People were crying out for players with league experience to get us up a level.

Thought Moncur in particular would add some attacking flair. Looks way past his best sadly, he's a nice guy but not the type you need when you're scrapping like we are. Fitness is a big worry as he's still carrying a knock and Kev started him today over Coker, perplexing tbh.

As for Bonne, his attitude has improved and appeared to be getting somewhere until Kev inexplicably drops him to shoehorn in Walker who's shown very little so far. But again, how long do we wait for him to finally turn good, if he ever does?

How many of the players we've signed since Jan have had a valued worthwhile impact? I'm not sure all of them are bad players. I am certain we are not getting the best out of what we have! Either way you look at it, the management bought them in need to take responsibility for the failings.

This. As much as the jury is out on a number of players I do not believe we have any that can't do a job in our division. Today smacked of Maher having a selection pop at his critics, ' I've changed it up like people ask and still got shafted'. No one would have asked for the changes he made and they served only to make him look even more suspect than before. He even threw Wood on, good, and that backfired because he faced up, ran well and put in some telling crosses. Perhaps, if I am wrong, the more enlightened posters could give any plausible reason for the selections. Bizarre at best.

We are doing it Maher's way and it does not work. We were undone by pace, power and determination by a team counterattacking at home. We huffed, puffed and passed the covering off the ball and we may as well have all sat on the bench and sent a telegram to the Altrincham players with a detailed plan of our moves.

For those still rooting out mitigating circumstances, excuses for Maher, ask yourself this; would any other manager in our division agree with the tactics our team are forced to persevere with? I seriously doubt a single one would. They wouldn't, the pundits do not and the majority of fans do not. Clearly Maher must be a master tactician that transcends above all others. He sees how stupid we all are and knows he is right. Delusional.

I think we need to see a ruthless side to team selection. Kev is clearly off the view he needs new bodies but sometimes we need him to admit mistakes and move on.

In this league. Players come and go, at all times of the season.

It feels like COSU will back him but I think we need to show that ruthless side, in terms of team selection and formation.

Why we are still playing 3 centre backs when the other team are subbing off their forwards for defenders is beyond me.

In essence. I agree we need to move on and say that player didn't work - send them back - or send out on loan. Let's not wait until the end of the season. We are now 3 points off relegation zone.

Moncur was bought in as the great white hope to be the creative spark in midfield, after two games Kev finally drummed into him that the ball must not go forward at any point and he turned to crap.

Bonne - wow, given the fees that have been paid for him in the past, the levels he's played at and the money he is probably on here...horrendous. Makes the likes of Matt Harrold and Barrington Belgrave prolific. I'm not buying the " he's looking better" Gus has got 9 from right wing back, a player who'd not be working on his finishing day in day, unlike old Macauley. That said, is there any point I'd us playing strikers at all when we create next to nothing, a different manager, allowing freedom to play through the middle and maybe he gets better results.

I think Moncur is worth hanging on to, the problem with him is we have no runners for him to thread through which is his biggest strength. He’s playing with a level of player probably a few levels below what he’s used to and they aren’t on the same wave length as him. As for Bonne I can’t really comment as I’ve only seen him off the bench but the noise around him says enough
