Are you sure that statement hasn't been added to today ?

When I clicked on it this morning it was NOT a detailed explanation, it just said ;

Southend United's Bilel Mohsni will be rested for Saturday's trip to Accrington Stanley.

Paul Sturrock feels that three games in seven days is too much for the Frenchman. "I just feel that playing three times insuch a short space of time is too much at the moment and it won't benefit the team.

So yes I did read it earlier. I wouldn't have asked the friggin question otherwise would I.

Sounds like an explanation to me! What do people want?

a personal meeting with PS daily so they can question every decision he makes???
Mohsni a personal meeting with ps daily, trying to stop him losing his temper every match cant go on like it. Great player where would he be playing now if not for this grey area in his temperment

It was on the OS a couple of days ago that Mohsni was fasting for Ramadan. He really won't be up to playing after not eating for a period of time.

if and its a big if he is being rested for religious reasons, thats truly shocking, whats the point of signing a player that cannot play during ramadan?? you ppl on here that are building him up to be a cult, shame on you, I think he is a major liability his play is erratic, and if the rm wants to practise his beliefs, then find a islamic country where you can ply your trade
but dont come to our glorious country

If it was a choice between Mohsni and you, I would have you deported every time. Mohsni is a friendly, polite and genuinely nice person but you are an arse.

May have been mentioned earlier(can't be asked to look) but why was he not left out of the Borient game?

How about one of those fun votey pages to find out whether there are just 20 or 30 of us who love having Southend's answer to the Stig at the club.
For what it's worth, I think Bilel is responsible for putting more bums on seats over the last couple of seasons than any player for a long time.

Done, just for you.

...and to those who wanted this post removed.

Accrington Stanley 1 Southend United 2

Looks like the manager was right and the good Captain even more in the wrong.

Ramadan started at the beginning of August and he has played games since then so the argument is pretty much null and void about him not being playing.

I don't know the law, but should we decide that actually we didn't want a player as their religious beliefs meant they were not able to perform their duties, then surely we would be within our rights to dismiss them/not employ them. I.e. fasting through Ramadam means that a player is too weak to play football, the primary task he's contracted to do. There's no way as a business we could alter working conditions to accomadate him (I'm thinking the turban helmets the police issued to SWAT team members).

There is an argument that if you want to work in a foreign country then you should adhere to their guidelines/habits/traditions/belief, as it's your conscious decision to move to a country that observes a different religion. It's akin to inviting yourself round a Muslim families house for dinner and then making them say grace.Either way, I'm disappointed we're losing Mohsni, but I certainly don't wish to bomb him out as a result, but then neither do I believe he has the divine right to walk back into the first XI once Ramadam is over, especially should the player that has stepped into his spot play well.

Not really... it's like going to a Muslim families house for dinner and saying grace yourself.

Anyway, an interesting thread, partly highjacked by CB whose posts I can still see quoted in others replies despite him being on my ignore list (I know there's nothing that can be done about that), which just emphasises to me exactly why I chose to ignore him.

I'd be more bothered if Ramadan fell in April/May and we were going for a promotion push. By the time it does, hopefully Bil will have fulfilled his potential and we'll have sold him to a high 6 figure or even a 7 figure sum.

Also, it's worth noting that even if he played zero games during Ramadan, that will probably still be less than the number of games in the season he'll miss suspended...

Wow, 7 pages. You all took the bait... Whoopsie.

This site has such a lovely revolving door of pantomime villains, if they wasn't here it would be an awful love in.
