Decision to be made tomorrow I believe...

I think he will stay... Subject to certain conditions and I would expect a "clear the air" chat with the squad...In particular Gilbert, who's relationship with Bilel seems particularly strained...

I do think Gilbert is being rather silly here, he could easily alienate himself from the supporters. If it had been someone who the supporters respect and admire being critical then I think that would be deemed more acceptable, but because it's Gilbert, who already attracts a fair amount of criticism, I think he could leave himself open to some abuse.

Hi i would have moshni over gilbert any day, his gilbert the worst back ever for southend i cant think of any worst than him, long ball football so he can talk.i dont know why prosser was dropped, rant over, moshni got skill

hiQUOTE=united we stand;1344906]totally disagree, he was interviewed straight after the match- what did you expect him to Say. Would you have preferred him to say that it didn't mater to him , that he didn't care if he and Southend got to Anfield?

Gilbert stated his opinion - which was with 11 on the pitch we would have wom, he avoided as much as possible replying to questions on 'did Moshni loose the match' and simply said that yes he did fill that Moshni had let the team down down[/QUOTE]

I disagree - I'm not a massive fan of Gilbert but at least it shows he cares and is massively disapointed with the behaviour of one of his team mates that potentially cost us and him a massive opportunity to visit a premier league club - probably a chance that won't come round very often. Surely Gilbert's comments show he's just as passionate as Bilel - something that Bilel is lauded for?

But is it sensible to be having a pop at someone who is (or was) such a favourite?

Seeing as I now live 4778 miles (give or take a couple of feet) from the Hall, I have never had the pleasure of seeing Mohsni play so maybe it gives me an objective view of things.

As others have said, his acceptance in the dressing room is vital. If this is lost then he has to go.
If there is a chance that the players can forgive then it seems to me that he’ll need to undergo treatment in the form of psychotherapy, anger management etc. etc. But, stuff like this takes a lot of money and time so someone would have to make the decision if he was worth the risk.

I know we all hate to admit it but all professional football teams are businesses now and the bottom line can’t be ignored no matter which player we’re talking about.

Gilbert has never like Mohsni since he first signed for the club. Gilbert has a habit of blamming other players for his own mistakes but he takes it too far with Mohsni, i.e when defending a corner Gilbert doesnt clear the ball properly when he should have done, a striker then gets goal side of Moshni and gets an attempt on goal. Yes Mohsni wants to be tighter on his man but Gilbert makes the first **** up and then goes mad at Mohsni. Not only has Gilbert blown things up by not shaking Mohsnis hand, his interview was unprofessional and this is the kind of character Gilbert really is, never accepts any blame and passes it onto whoever he can like he does to any team mate on a football.

Personally I could only blame Mohsni if he got sent off for a reckless two footed challange, violent behaviour of discent etc but the fact that he was sent off for 2 yellows when he made attempts to win the ball and according to BBC Essex the yellows were unlucky then I cant blame him.

I just really wished we had drawn someone like macclesfield or even the furthest away lowest ranked team left in the cup then knowbody would be questioning Mohsni being sent off.

If its the truth then of course he should say so .. what'd be unacceptable is for the players to publically stand by him but secretly resent him still being here, that would destroy any hope of promotion i imagine

Publish and be damned i say

Gilbert is very keen on blaming others for his own mistakes.I have seen it time and time again this year when he has ****ed up then start shouting at somebody else to cover his mistake.

Also his sending off has not cost us alot of money. It was never the clubs money in the first place. A cup run and drawing a big team away should never ever be budgeted for, and should it happen, its a bonus, effectively money we have won. Cost us would mean we have lost or spent the money. Also if he had been on the pitch for the full game we may well have drawn or lost the match in 90 mins, extra time or how's this Mohsni or someone else missing the decisive penalty kick in a shoot out.

I seem to remember earlier on in the season, we beat a team with 10 men just, their keeper being sent off and having to put an outfield player in goal. Hall scored the resulting free kick and we played most of the match against 10 men with no real keeper. They seemed to cope with 10 men

Totally agree there with you John.

The problem is is Bilel, his cards are well and truely marked by all he comes into contact with and everyone knows the right buttons to push on him. I am in no way defending some of his outburst because as an adult he has to take responsibility for his own actions but, to say one player cost us the game the other night is absolute crap - he is one member of a team, and therein lies the crux of it MEMBER OF A TEAM. There are always gonna be senerios where sometimes one person does not get on with another they work with, it is the better person that keeps there heads down and concentrates on what they are paid for.

I do feel we are all being judge and jury here and the club as his employer have the right to discipline as they see fir - irrespective of what the supporters want.

personally as I have said many times before he is a misguided soul and could if he sorted out his demons be a great asset to the club

Lest it not be overlooked, at the time Bil was sent off the score was 0-0. To assert that Bil lost us the game is wide of the mark. No one can say how it may have turned out had we had 11 on the pitch. But whatever punishment is handed down I do hope that the club will make very clear what are the matters which attracted the sanction. There seems to be some uncertainty in the minds of supporters as to what happened off the pitch. If off field matters play a part in any decision-making regarding a suitable sanction then this must be made plain.

I'd have more respect for him for airing his honest opinion. Just because Bilel is a favourite off the pitch doesn't make him untouchable. As I've said before Bilel has learnt nothing in the time he's been here regarding his temperament and if I was one of his team mates I'd be mighty ****ed off too.

Agreed it was still nil nil - but it cost us the opportunity to compete on a level playing field. We may still have lost but at least it would have been an equal contest.

You're missing the point, the fans aren't reacting to an isolated incident of two poorly timed tackles, the fans are reacting to a long saga of events, some very serious. If he had no history of temperamental issues, then yeah, it would be over the top but this is the latest in a long line of incidents. He attacked/threatened his own team mates with a pair of scissors for christ sake! And by all accounts (3 that I've seen) had to be pulled away from them outside the stadium Tuesday night. Yet people seem to accept this because he waves to them when they sings his name and occasionally comes up trumps on the field. He was given a massive warning after the Orient game - last chance saloon. Then the first thing he did when back in the side, was get the club fined for an altercation with the Port Vale players/fans after the final whistle. The guy either clearly doesn't learn from his mistakes or has no element of control.

We can't have a player that might blow up any minute, a player that seems to have no qualms with acts of aggression against his own team mates, and more importantly whom seemingly hasn't the backing of his own team.

The players have had enough, and who can blame them. For me the team is far more important than keeping one player happy, no matter how good he is or could be. Someone used the example of Beckham earlier, well look what Fergie did when he felt Becks off the field antics were becoming distracting for him and his team mates. He sold arguably his most iconic player, and effective set piece taker for the sake of the team.

The players have got to the stage, where they are no longer keeping their feelings towards Bilel private either, with Gilbert's interview & Dicko's tweet. They don't care how nice he is on or off the field, they don't care how much the fans sing his name (this grates them as well - Mark Phillips tweeting that we need other songs for other players) or how much passion he plays with, they care about having a player in the side they can trust, they can rely on and who will give them as a team the greatest chance of success, at the moment, he doesn't deliver the first two, and only sporadically delivers third.

For me he's had more chances than most reasonable players can expect to get, and has to go - which is a massive shame; but Sturrock cannot afford to risk a divided dressing room.

Edit: Just seen he posted on Facebook 'I try iam calm but it look southend united its finnish by my fault' - Sounds like Brady/Sturruck/both may well have had enough.

Excellent post!
