the treatment/assessment Arnold did not receive on Saturday was ...

a/ a health safety issue

b/ instrumental in us losing a football game

c/ a disgrace that professional athletes/footballers are expected to play in high
performance contact sports where injury is always likely without a physio ..

absolutely shocked that Arnold was not properly assessed and no wonder he was beaten at the near post when he was out of it ...

are Sheffield United happy that Brunt (who is probably worth a few quid) is out there risking his legs/ligaments etc without anyone to tell the difference between a touch of cramp and a cruciate ligament ..

shameful

If it's multiple choice as to what one is true then I'll plump for none of the above.

I'm sure we've all seen opposition physio's treat the other teams players. Admittedly it's normally when 2 of the same team players are down injured - but I don't see that it was particularly a health and safety issue - a physio was available to treat the players. And I don't think injury to Arnold was instrumental in us losing.

Anyhows didn't I read this is a timing issue - we have a new physio, they just weren't able to join us in time for the Notts C match?

We had no physio for the last game. Had to borrow theirs. Awkward with a concussion injury.

Something that the PFA have been made aware of too by now who will want to check arrangements on safeguarding their members at all times they are working for the club (including training sessions and travelling to matches etc).

I'm sure those on here that are close to the club that know more will be able to shed further light on the situation, Boywonder2, Rigsby? They are normally quick to confirm when rumours are unfounded......

Chris Phillips confirmed it on Saturday. We have a replacement already until end of season

I’m not saying this isn’t a shambles, because it is. but there was a physio there on Saturday, albeit one provided by Notts County. And I’m guessing this was agreed between the two clubs in advance. As such none of our players were in any more danger than usual. And we say thank you to Notts County for the assistance they provided.

Yes, thank you very much Notts County, but please don't go to the trouble of sending us an invoice for the services of your physio.

This was my initial thought but if two players clash heads, they will both be wanting a qualified expert arriving and treating them immediately. On the face of it, it’s incredibly irresponsible to not have our own expertise on hand if that’s the case.
How can the Senior football strategist justify this ?
I haven’t heard him try to but everything we DO know about him suggests that he’s not shy of a reaction and more than comfortable telling people what he thinks. I’d assume that many, MANY strong words are being exchanged within the club at this moment. But much as some want this ideological ‘transparency’, this sort of laundry is just unlikely to be aired in public.

All the points you raised on this thread are valid. My expectation though is that they’re already being voiced strongly within the club. Difficult to see why anyone should assume otherwise.

All very sensible and hard to disagree with, BUT, it was Stan himself that set out the (unrealistic) expectation about transparency and communications when he was regularly (several times a day) posting on her before he got a formal role within the club about how it was going to be a massive change, the fans would have their club back, it would be fully open and transparent etc.

That was much easier to say when he was standing on the side-lines telling everyone that things needed to change (one of the things he said previously that it was almost criminal not to have a full-time physio in place?) and he did a good job (in my humble opinion) in galvanising the supporters and giving hope of a new dawn. The reality was once he signed a contract with Ron (SUFC) he was bound by corporate governance and limited in what, where and when he could communicate.

It may still work brilliantly with a highly motivated maverick inside the organisation (who without doubt is genuinely fond of the club), holding people to account, delivering changes and dragging it kicking and screaming forwards and into a stable and promising future....

OR.... he may have got totally played by Ron to placate a mutinous fanbase generating a lot of coverage in the press about how poor things were, whilst having his own wings clipped and voice supressed to the point that there is very very little media coverage about the club when it's languishing just above the relegation zone in the 5th tier, under an embargo (again) and with it's owner facing very serious criminal charges.

Let's hope for the sake of SUFC its the former rather than the latter.

It was all agreed before the Notts County game, and all parties were fine.

We have a new physio, but couldn’t join us before the game.

So what's the problem? Surely we haven't started slaughtering the club on another topic without knowing the facts. Surely not..

Indeed, there does seem to be a nasty undercurrent of posters on here who seem to delight at clutching at any piece of news/rumour/gossip to spin it in order to satisfy their own particular agenda. Same with Twitter to be honest, we are not in a good place, but let's not make this any worse, eh?

When the club is being so badly run (and the 'new' six months in CEO has not made any discernible' difference) quite rightly supporters are quite entitled to voice their concerns. The issue over the physio should not be dismissed so lightly, there are rules and regulations which if not adhered to risk sanctions. The 'treatment' of Arnold's alleged concussion is also a perfectly legitimate cause for concern. This is where transparency is much needed to allay any unnecessary impressions that the club is in freefall on more than one front.

anyone else think Arnold was clearly concussed when he went down after seeing
the ball out for a corner and the Notts crowd got noisy and he suddenly jumped to his feet -

he was "ok" then but had to go off later "not ok"

Yep - stuff happens but it was shoddy ..

How did we end up with no keeper on the bench ?

Surely Wiggsy could have got his kit on ..

As for Chris Philips pointing out the shabby kit - its all about standards and expectations.

On the goalkeeper front as there are only 5 subs when you can use three, many clubs don’t field a sub keeper. There were precious few actively criticising this before. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
