Manager Sacking and Appointment Thread

Steve Thompson resigns as caretaker manager at Oldham. His 6 games have been 3 wins and 3 draws. Neil Redfearn, his assistant leaves as well.
Report says a meeting with the board indicated the club wanted to move in another direction!
And Oldham had a new owner from about a year ago, a local businessman, a popular takeover at the time. After this weird decision I wonder what their fans think now. Just shows how careful us fans have to be when judging an owner before they get their feet under the table and start making decisions.

Gary Rowett leaves Millwall , Adam Barrett steps in as caretaker manager .

Ben Garner sacked by Colchester, disgraceful he was doing an excellent job.
With our squad we should be nowhere near the bottom of the league, but Garnerball is never going to work in league two, we are not Man City! I do feel sorry for him in some ways, he wanted to play football the right way, but in league two you need to play more direct than he wanted to do.

Do you think maybe given a bit more time he might have been able to turn it around?

There was no doubt he was an intelligent coach but I think he was asking too much of league two players, when his system worked as it did against Notts County the football was brilliant but at other times we looked wide open. I don't think he would have changed his style he had done the same at other clubs, he nearly got Swindon promoted but maybe that was a one off. It was a shame because he was well liked by the fans and players at 1st, but he started blaming other things rather than himself, it looked like in the end he had fallen out with Robbie and some of the players. It was just a matter of time before the axe fell, Robbie acted pretty quickly so hopefully the new guy whoever that maybe has time to sort it out.

You could do worse than giving Mark Molesley a chance CaP. He's an up and coming manager that would fit your style and the area in general. Only trying to help mate.

Hi ColEwe,

I for one always want a strong Col Ewe.
Love the banter! There is only one team in Essex though and try and guess who that is.
I take your point about trying to play like Man City.
We had the same issue with Molsley.
It can be done though, you need to come and watch us Shrimpers , last 2 games 8-0 , 6 Points.
We play incredible football starting at the back.
The Key is getting the right players in and having the correct Coaching Staff.
Unfortunately for you Kev, Benno and Ruby have Dark Blue Blood in their veins.
Good Luck in your search.Good win against Grimsby. You may have your man already. xx
