Post-Match Thread and Ratings Maidenhead United 1-0 Southend United

Kev is mightily prickly always in interview, guess it’s his personality. Just seems so stubborn.

He may feel safe and has credit in the bank but if the fans start turning you can’t stay.

Were the fans singing sideways and backwards again? Man United were going backwards on Friday night and there was groans every time. Not getting on it and facing forward is criminal at any level when there’s a crumb of space.

KM on today’s defeat…“We’re trying and I understand the frustration from the fans but we are 0 creating chances and if you look at the stats and the data but we know it’s that final moment that we have to get right but we will keep working hard and sticking together and it will change”
Look at the stats and data is he taking the ****, 70 odd miles around the M25 and M4 I’d like to be looking at a ****ing goal or two, I’m just about done with Mayer just go your football is boring the tits off me.

Posted this on the match thread 20 mins before kick off

Another attacking line up and 5-0 to the blues......really looks like another Maher masterclass for the travelling faithful to enjoy.
In reality looking like another 1 nil tight scrappy game again

He is quickly becoming a very unlikeable manager. Constantly digging at the fans, pulling up bull**** stats and not taking any blame for the defeats.

Some of these players have definitely run their race. Whether we play 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, the bottom line is that 11 should be good enough to beat a part time team.

I’d rather lose games having a go in a 3-4-3 than occasionally scraping results in a 3-5-2. I hope Kev just thinks ‘sod it’ and goes for it for the rest of the season.

He is the man to take us forward, no doubt about it. He just needs to back himself and encourage the 3-4-3, high press, high risk, high reward. It probably means occasionally we’ll take a battering. But we’ll win more than we lose and eventually teams will have to focus on how to stop us rather than how to beat us.

My guess is that Kev probably knows the current crop just aren’t quite good enough. Certainly that’s how I’d be feeling.

I’d probably bench Husin and let him go at the end of the season. Not been good for a long time now. Hopefully Parillion is the answer to replacing him long term.

Walker has gone under the radar for criticism, but for all the hype his output has been poor. Supposedly a huge signing at the time, but very average for me.

Gubbins - nowhere near it in all the games I’ve seen (I appreciate he didn’t play today)

Appiah-Forson - limited chances admittedly, but is basically a downgrade on Fonguck with no end product. Usually takes 3 touches and gives the ball away.

That’s just a handful of examples who you’d probably have to say won’t get us to the level of a promotion team. Love Miley and Bridge, again appreciate they didn’t play today either, but have been absolutely nowhere near it when selected. That’s on them to sort themselves out, because they’ve had ample chances.
So that’s 6 players who you’ve said aren’t good enough yet Maher is “the man to take us forward”. Interesting. I do happen to agree with KAF and Gubbins, from what I’ve seen but both were Kev’s signings were they not? If he doesn’t rate them then get loan players in .. don’t keep picking the same players who aren’t performing ..

Not sure what to say anymore, we were so poor and there was no attacking intent.

Not sure why Hoppper comes straight in to start, Kendal Bonne & Walker looked like it had promise as an attacking trio.

This season is over, let's not waste anymore money signing the wrong players, keep our powder dry and recruit properly in the summer

I'm convinced that there are those that would clap the team off after an 8-0 loss that dropped us into the NLS
Absolutely, I can get behind them if we lose but look like we gave it a go. When it's performances like that, I honestly can't understand what people are seeing to stay and clap them. But each to their own

So having been sat on the fence, after the woeful performance last week, for such a gutless abject reaction today is completely unacceptable and reluctantly I am now of a view Maher has to go.

For me today it was the first time it is obvious Maher has lost the dressing room. The lack of passion and commitment was unacceptable, reflected in not even running to get the ball when it went out of play.

Apart from Hayes, everything was awful about today. Horrible formation, slow ponderous build up, late substitutions. The post match interview by Maher was delusional, refusing to accept any fault or that of his players for such an abysmal display. Blaming it on poor finishing, a foul for the goal bla bla

Constantly conceding from set pieces is unacceptable. Constantly sticking with the same formation against part time teams is unacceptable. The strikers get no service, we have resorted to our main attacking threat being Gus and Ralph, it is beyond ridiculous.

Mahers stubbornness and negativity will never get us promoted, COSU need to make a change now, they won’t, it will drag on.

A club legend but this can not go on.

If that's the only reason KM is still in charge, i'd love to know the difference between COSu and Ron?
That's an easy one and I'm surprised you don't know the answer.

COSU are reluctant to throw money away on hefty compensation because they intend to pay what they are obliged to pay.

Ron would commit to any expenses because he was a shyster and wouldn't intend paying anything.

Good chat in the car on the way up, easy park up, decent meal and pint in O'Neills and talking to some good folk i hadn't met before who sat on our table, fantastic news drifting in from the Bench for Barks campaign to give us a real boost, caught up with some familiar faces inside the ground who are always good to chat to, easy exit from ground and back to Dorset in 1 hour 59 mins with a cracking play list making the journey go even quicker.

Seemed like a decent day. Did I miss something?

Yes, you forgot to mention how much you are looking forward to supporting Plymouth Argyle tomorrow...?
