They are italian for the time being , until the agreement runs out

The rail contract between the Secretary of State for Transport and Trenitalia c2c Ltd , dated 19 July 2021, expired on 23 July 2023. The notice of variation extends the contract until 20 July 2025. This rail contract (or agreement) replaces the previous Essex Thameside 2014 rail franchise agreement contract.

At which point it will not be renewed and will be state run. so we have them as shirt sponsors for a year ...

Still being run on a cost plus basis though or has it returned to profit? If the former, which is what I suspect, although it's a private company operating, all the revenue goes to the Govt and they receive costs plus a profit percentage. The sponsorship will be a cost, so we're receiving that cash from the taxpayer!

I agree to a certain extent but it was NOT @Tommy2holes who took the picture and it was already out there amongst socials so it came as no suprise to me it took only a few hours to make it here and mainstream.
