lets get this pizza shop shut down

I'm disappointed that the club has stooped to this level to be honest.

In this society of no-blame so far we have had to read/hear about :-
Credit Crunch
Banks withdrawing offers
Council planners taking their time
Government Inquiries
Government ministers
The Taxman demanding what is rightfully owed to him
Players not wanting to come to SUFC, going instead to lower clubs
Greedy players wanting away
Staff demanding to be paid their wages on time -- the cheek of it
A Chief Executive who must be Gerald Ratner's subtle fat brother

and now, to top it all, some bloke who wants to stay running his business in a shop that needs to be demolished.

Just wait a few days and it will probably ShrimperZone's fault the stadium is still an age away from starting.

I take it that absolutely no blame can be apportioned to our Chairman --- a man with ideas to build a £60,000,000 stadium but didn't have the cash to buy a flat up the road on his proposed completion date last December.

Sorry but the pizza shops dont just make there money from football fans, they make it from prospects college and the two schools nearby aswell as people walking home from clubbing and pubs

what most posters miss is that Sainsbury's clearly trust Ron and that in a nutshell is worth more than all the crap written on a fan's website.
Interesting article in the Mail on Sunday about the influence of supermarkets on football clubs and a quote from someone called Ron Martin pointing out that land has more value for supermarkets than building homes.
My guess is this will be sorted out pretty quickly. It is in nobody's interest, the pizza man's or Ron's to go to CPO which it definitely will if they cannot reach a deal. It's a game of poker.
Believe me I'd never play a game of poker with RM.

There is a vast difference between Ron Martin offering to buy the flats and businesses and actually coming up with the money to buy them. I am privy to information that I can't reveal on here as I would probably be sued but there seems to some problem with completing the purchase of one of the small flats so don't hold your breath about pizza shops being purchased just yet ---- owner willing or not.

I don't have your info, but I guess this relates directly to the cash flow issues which may be resolved when the new stadium is being built. At the moment RM is buying up all kinds of property (prospects, flats, hopefully pizza shops) around roots hall - so we are running short of cash. Nothing the odd 60k loan or £150k player sale wouldn't help no doubt! (Hopefully JCR & Hooper will both get sold in January!)

When we have aquired all the land, we sell it all to sainsbury's and make a few quid. Most of that will go to the new stadium, but RM won't have weekly additional expenses of buying land around Roots Hall. Cash flow problem over and some money can be spent on players again.

I am probably wrong, but this makes sense to me.

This wouldn't have been around the time of the 11th of December when SUFC got a loan from the Trust would it ???

Allegedly about the 14th December but the lady further up the chain was still living out of packed boxes at her old home that she couldn't leave owing to non-completion at the end of the year.

for goodness sake why is everyone being so naive. Sainsbury's will only buy the land when it is all available. They don't want the hassle RM is going through of dealing with the bits and pieces. Too messy and not their core business. When it's sorted which it will be he will sell it to them. Do you think it won't be for the market rate and for a profit?

But what is the timescale involved here ???
How quick do Sainsburys want the vacant (with no toppings) site ???

Chris how would I, you or anyone else know? Asap I would have thought. Delay is in no one's interests. The pizza man is not going to get what he wants by waiting for a CPO, that's my point.
The fact that there seem to be only 2 people holding out seems quite remarkable. But they are likely to have advisors and they will know that they may get less if there is a CPO. That's why I said up to a point it's who blinks first.
And if (a big if) Prospects have agreed then there'll probably be a picture of a gurning RM and Mr Pizza, sharing a deep crust in the Echo in the next few weeks.

Exactly. It's all or nothing, and as far as I'm aware we haven't bought anything yet, just got agreements in place to buy everything. When the final agreement is in place the deals will be completed, presumably paid for using the funds from Sainsburys which would then kick in.

I suspect the real reason Ron is putting these types of story up on the web-site isn't to try and force the pizza guy out (although he won't mind if it does), but to make sure that the fans know that it isn't RM holding things up and not delivering on his promises and that things are getting closer.

In my experience these things take time and there are invariably minor hold-ups which may frustrate as they take time to iron out.

It sounds like RM has bought a fair bit - nearly everything. What with the flats completing (or not) as McNasty says etc. When you exchange contracts you set a completion date for very soon after when you pay up in full. If we are exchanging with Prospects next week, we may well be short of cash for a while yet.

When we have bought the full shebang, we can sell on to Sainsburys at a profit.

Bazza - I'm not being pedantic, but you keep saying "we" incorrectly (unless you're Ron Martin or a business associate of his). The club does not own Roots Hall nor the surrounding land (nor the training ground for that matter). The club is not buying the pizza place, Prospects or wherever. The club will not sell anything to Sainsbury's, for a profit or otherwise. The club will not own any of Fossetts Farm (unless Ron Martin's been keeping back some good news for the club and he's going to transfer the ownership of the new stadium to the club).

By "we", you're referring to Ron Martin's other companies that own the land - ie the club's landlord who has not been asking the club to pay rent whilst at Roots Hall but who may decide to charge the club rent at some point in the future (eg if and when the club moves to Fossetts Farm).

"We" is a bit easier to type than "Ron Martin's network of related companies". Particularly in this context.
