Leon Clarke Goes Back To The Owls

Why do they do that? How many blokes write lists of jobs for their wives?

To be strictly fair, I was using poetic licence - she doesn't usually write me actual lists, but as we are in the middle of having an adapted house built, and she can't do much herself, she is naturally stressing about how much there is to do and trying to make sure I don't forget!

:( :p

From what i heard from someone at the club tuesday tilson still wants clarke but it has been taken out of his hands, clarke has been refusing to train and he is only turning up at matchdays saying his fit, there has been problems his allround attitude constant moaning and some **** stirring.

Who cares about Leon

He dosn't want to play for us anyway. If anyone has seen Tilly's interview on the SUFC website, you will get the answer as to why we dont want him.:guns:

can someone elaborate on the the Locked up notion mentioned by the General and Einstein?

There was a suggestion on here yesterday that Leon had got himself arrested during the early hours of New Years Day. I've no idea if there's any truth in it, though.

Well if there was a chase I doubt he would have out run the old bill.

I knew someone was going to come up with something like that, although i was expecting some NYE reference. I was going to say Balls but then you get the gay references.

Clarke was arrested when he was playing for Wolves for allegedly hitting a fan who asked to take his photo. This was over a year ago, no idea about any recent grief.

It's just a rumour as far as I'm concerned. Whilst he didn't make the 16, he was in the Sheffield Wednesday squad for the game on New Years Day so I doubt he would have been out on New Years Eve.

Unless Laws told him he wasn't making the 16.

Clarke

I never liked him at all and thought after meeting him at a signing in the club shop a few months ago that he wasn't a particularly nice individual either.

Okay he scored a few goals when he came here trying to impress and gain a contract but ask yourself why the bloke has been with 6 or 7 clubs now and been bombed out of all of them at the age of 22 or 23?

Southend was nothing but a stepping stone for him, his attitude stank and we eventually saw his true colours - I am glad he isn't signing for us and would rather we spent the money on somebody who will take pride in wearing our shirt, rather than sulking about, refusing to train, looking overweight and showing disrespect to Tilly and Brush.

Goodbye Leon and hopefully when you are kicking around at Mansfield Town or whichever club is prepared to take a chance on you next, perhaps one day you will realise exactly what a good thing you could have been on at SUFC had you not had such a grossly inflated opinion of your own worth.

Why not e mail Leon and ask him the truth yourself? His Myspace address is as follows -

There's a lot of conjecture in that post and I hope it's not based on your one chance encounter. "Bombed out" seems completely inappropriate too. He started at Wolves as a trainee and made over 70 appearances for them but as most of them were as as sub and as Wolves were in and out of the Premiership in that time, is it surprising that he needed to move on to find first team football? I would say not really.

From there, he played thrice on loan at Kidderminster, once at QPR and five times at Plymouth. He didn't score in an of them so presumably neither side were too keento pursue a deal.

Sheffield Wednesday then thought he would be worth signing on a nominal fee but he only made 4 starts for them. Presumably this wasn't his attitude that restricted him to starting a handful of games.

So he went on loan to Oldham at the tail end of last season before returning to Wednesday to see if he could work his way in to the team.

Now he's turned up at a League One club where he has a better scoring record than that club's only significant goalscorers of recent years (being Eastwood and Constantine). In spite of that, his recent 'barren run' seems to have convinced fans that he is lazy, arrogant, unsettling to the dressing room and not as good as he seemed at first.

Why would you suggest he should stay with this 'good thing' when there is so little faith in him? If I ever read the post quoted, I know I'd be driving up the M1 quicker than you could say Richie Foran.

If I could be bothered to search back I pointed out from the very start that as soon as he stopped scoring he would be called lazy :)

As Ive said elsewhere Clarke has a lot of class, he scored some very good goals and some of his link up play was excellent.

He does have moments where he falls over the ball and the miss against Oldham was horrific, yet he is still better than what we have.

If he had the right attitude and wanted to be a Southend player then great.

Anyone else beginning to get the impression that we're playing Sheffield Wednesday here to get Leon on the cheap? They're desperate to sell to bring in someone to turn their season around and we're their best chance of doing it. Where they were in the driving seat in this transfer originally, we're now clearly in control and can probably now name our price. And at the same time Tilly can give Leon a kick up the backside and gets to highlight Clarke's workrate, or lack of it to the crowd who will get on him the second that he seems to be slacking off.

Leon to sign for £150k in the next couple of weeks, I'm calling it.

when leon first come here i thought he looked class. lets be honest, look at the first goal he scored for us. that was pretty special. then setting up a number of other goals and also scoring 7 or 8 goals in as many games. then the real leon started to shine through. lazy and getting more overweight with every game. his attitude was **** and he thought to much of himself.

as already mentioned there is something seriously wrong with a players as young as him who has been to as many clubs as he has. his attitude and lazyiness would be my guess. i do would rather someone who showed pride for playing for southend and someone who tried running once in a while.

if tilly to come out and say how he thought he was lazy says something as he is not one to fault a player like this.

if leon did come back i would hope to see a lot of changes.

if he stays at sheffield he might get one or two games but will never last. plus the wednesday fans do not like him.
