Leon Clarke Goes Back To The Owls

How many of those were pens?

Some more stats. In our promotion season from League One, Wayne Gray got 9 (3 pens) goals and one assist (all comps I believe but possibly just League Cup). In the season before, he got 13 goals (4 pens) and 6 assists.

Worth noting that the stats are from different sources so I can't necessarily vouch for them matching.

Tilson must be confident of bringing in someone who will score goals soon. If we dont start scoring and things continue in the same vain as over the last month, Tilson may not be around come May. I for one have written off this season, and to do that in Jan makes me think if thats acceptable??

Have you seen us play recently and you seriously think we have a chance of promotion, i dont think its me who needs to get a grip.

Yet this is the largely the same team of players who did so well earlier. Have they all become so collectively useless that there is no hope of rediscovering our earlier form? I'm not saying that we will, but, and especially if Tilly brings in the likes of Fallon, it is surely not competely ridiculous to think they might.

Point taken but after years of following Southend I'm afraid I am a cynical pessimist, i find its easier that way :)

Actually, I'm a lot more like you than you might believe - my optimistic exterior masks a scarred and weary pessimist, which is the result, as with you, of far too many seasons following that bloody team! Long before Tilson, I never counted points as being towards promotion, but as being against relegation and 52 points (or the old equivalent) is all I pray for at the start of of every season.

:minger:

Is a weary pessimist someone who looks to the negative where possible and is suffering from us doing too well?

 :D

Lol! This pessimist is weary from 14 successive days of catering for visitors while my kids think up ever more inventive ways to provoke each other into fights and my wife writes lists of jobs for me... Usually I'm quite an energetic pessimist.

:thump:

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.

I think the club has got a lucky break on this one. How many times have we seen a loanee look a world-beater until they sign permanently?

Leon Clarke's got the ability, there's no question about that, but he'd have been a more expensive Tesfaye Bramble.

I believe we may have had a lucky escape here, we have had two sets of supporters tell us he promises much and in the end delivers little, other comments as fat lazy **** have been banded about by sheff wed fans, then there is the criticism from tily, he not really one for slating individuals I reckon he really pi55ed tilly off
