Leon Clarke Goes Back To The Owls

http://www.thestar.co.uk/owls/Laws-draws-up-wish-list.3636787.jp

Anyone else beginning to get the impression that we're playing Sheffield Wednesday here to get Leon on the cheap? They're desperate to sell to bring in someone to turn their season around and we're their best chance of doing it. Where they were in the driving seat in this transfer originally, we're now clearly in control and can probably now name our price. And at the same time Tilly can give Leon a kick up the backside and gets to highlight Clarke's workrate, or lack of it to the crowd who will get on him the second that he seems to be slacking off.

Leon to sign for £150k in the next couple of weeks, I'm calling it.

And we'll have a very confused bunch of supporters who've loved him one minute, slagged him off the next now not knowing what to do next!

when leon first come here i thought he looked class. lets be honest, look at the first goal he scored for us. that was pretty special. then setting up a number of other goals and also scoring 7 or 8 goals in as many games. then the real leon started to shine through. lazy and getting more overweight with every game. his attitude was **** and he thought to much of himself.

as already mentioned there is something seriously wrong with a players as young as him who has been to as many clubs as he has. his attitude and lazyiness would be my guess. i do would rather someone who showed pride for playing for southend and someone who tried running once in a while.

if tilly to come out and say how he thought he was lazy says something as he is not one to fault a player like this.

if leon did come back i would hope to see a lot of changes.

if he stays at sheffield he might get one or two games but will never last. plus the wednesday fans do not like him.

His workrate was never there even at the start. It was just that he was scoring goals so no one minded. Had he scored the open goal against Oldham and had he scored any of the sitters he had against Gillingham then people would be screaming blue murder had we still not signed him.

I didn't see him against Donny but have no problems believing that he was every bit as bad as people said. That said, for most of his time here I think he's played a decent role for the team as a targetman and if partnered by a Fallon or even a Harrold he'd score a lot of goals at this level.

even was truly awlful at donny, you really had to be there to understand how bad. after that performance he shouldn't have been wearing the shirt.

one time that stand out in my mind was in the 2nd half when a ball come over to him, he did his usual chest control but the ball got away from him but wasn;t far away at all yet let the donny player stroll away with it without as much as moving from the spot. i think he could have easily got it but just didn't want to.

Again though, that plays completely into the Club's hands. There's no pressure on Southend United to complete this transfer at all.

If we didn't want him we'd say we didn't want him. All this 'oh well we may have him back.... but maybe on loan' stuff is just putting the ball more and more in our court. A loan deal is no good to Sheffield Wednesday. Everyone knows that.

I believe you, matty. I'm sure he was every bit as bad and as lazy as you say.

I suspect Tilly is keeping his options open as you say... I believe he has other people ahead in the pecking order now, but if those deals don't come off he's keeping the door ajar for Clarke.

Dangerous game to play though. Having publicly criticised him, which as we all know is something Tilly rarely does (actually has he ever done it before?), it would create a dicey atmosphere on the player's return. Not to mention the crowd's response to a couple of goal-less performances....

Not quite sure Clarke's ego would let him come back on such a trial basis, but hey ho.
