Leeds United Fun & Games

Bloody Hell Mikes on about hear say... my mate in the Pub said........ blah Blah blah... Leeds have only sold allocation Tickets in the last week or so... the mighty Leeds in the 60s and 70s are well gone...

My source is well connected with Leeds United on a business level, not some scroat who fancies himself as a bit of a knuckle-dragging thug. LUFC are concerned about the number of ticketless fans travelling down to Essex for the game because, if trouble did occur, it could lead to sanctions on the club, including points deductions, which could further economically damage the business if the club should be relegated to League One at the end of the season. Read my post PROPERLY as you will notice that I doubted his concerns. Yet the number of posts confirming that the authorities are taking steps to avoid potential trouble, including the total closure of pubs around the ground, seems to suggest that there is real concern. I couldn't give a flying **** whether "mighty Leeds" were this or that in whatever decade; football hooliganism is a recurring disease that still needs to be eradicated from English football.

BTW - Rich, it wasn't a "mate in a pub". It was a rather nice and exclusive restaurant in the port; I had a very nice parrillada de pescado washed down with a very fine vino tinto de la casa.

As proven by the 34 arrests, 10 stabbings and running battles in West London several hours after the end of the Chelsea v Spurs game yesterday.

However tense the atmosphere maybe inside the ground, it is very unlikely any trouble will occur at Roots Hall on Saturday afternoon. The sea-front, pubs and clubs over the weekend may be a different story however...

:(

FYI Leeds have only sold just over 1000 tickets for Leicester City tomorrow night.

COME ON U SHRIMPERS

Class , a man after my own heart- red wine with fish - (oh sh*t did I say fish)

I would expect all the trouble to be down the seafront, I wouldn't close pubs by the ground as surely its better concentrate any potential trouble so police resource isn't required to be distributed all over Southend...??

oh no!! I have wet myself reading these posts, my my my the mightly leeds
its easy to put figures on ticketless fans, but again like the spanish thing I have my sources, and whilst on the des kaye fun bus to ipswich on saturday, witnessed a telephone conversation with one of their older heads, and they are expecting around 200 without tickets to come down, interestingly enough they apparently hope to get into the ground by "mingling with the home fans"
whatever that means.

A large Police presence will nonetheless undoubtedly be required . Even if Leeds don't cause any problems there is still a chance that a filing cabinet could escape from RM's office or a deluded fan could sport an LDV shirt.

Better safe than sorry I say - sorry did I say safe (as in 'no we don't have one of those officer')

The general rule about white wine with fish and red wine with meat can be broken when it comes to complementing tastes and contrasting flavours. Accompanying grilled fish is an exception to that rule; an aromatic red wine can really complement the selection very well indeed and the flavours mix sensationally in the palate. A very nice lunch, even if our companion was talking bollocks apparently ...

I think it would be a good idea for those ITK to look into linking up with the Colchester Carnage Bridage on a one off basis for the Leeds game.

I'm sure the CCB don't want to see 5000 Leeds fans taking the p*ss in Essex.

Dangerous game to play Cyril, the Bridage may just use the scenario to conquer Southend.....

i really think all this rubbish can be solved with a good thrashing of leeds on saturday ending with a very loud chant of 'Your not famous anymore, your not famous anymore' they need to get over themselves.

Quite agree - although I am more of a Saumur - Champigny man myself .

Maybe if we meet a few Leeds fans on Sat we could debate the merits of red v white with them.

This would have been an option that the SZ magnificent 7 would have looked into, however sadly I have to report there are divisions in the group that broke out on Saturday, regarding which was the correct temperature to drink Champagne at and whether the accompanying strawberries should have been coated in sugar or not.
I will be sitting down tonight with Lord Slipperduke to discuss all of this, and hopefully we can get a resolve fairly quickly but I doubt in time for the Leeds game.
Also there is the small matter of someone sending our beloved leader 'Dagenham Kev' some white feathers in the post...

I've asked a Leeds contact of mine, and this is what he came back with.

Its nothing unusual about Leeds fans with no tickets heading to games and I think our average away following this season has been around 4,500ish, but as far as I can see, there is no "planned" movement for that amount of fans to turn up, there is no forum or body of people urging fans to turn up with no tickets. I think we have only an allocation of 1000 which are sold out. I am sure there will be ticketless folk there, but I seriosly doubt it will be 5000...

So there you have it.

I won't budge on this, Cal. I'll not drink champagne out of a pint mug. It's not right. It's not God's way!

Good point though. Can the feather sender please stop? You must have sent half a goose already and poor Kev is allergic. We've only just got him to agree to lead us.

The last thing we need at this difficult time is a divisive leadership election.

If Kev is happy to drink Champers from a pint mug then so am I.
What I wont stand for is his scandalous views on passing the Port to the right not the left.
