Lee Barnard

Thank god. Finally a striker who wants to join the Blues.

I agree... im well chuffed if he signs, Southend Need players like this... who want to play for their local side.....

I reckon he will be loved by us just like our Adam Barrett is and Fred Eastwood was..... will will give 110% so lets watch the goals fly in

Well Done steve Tilson u know local based players will alway try harder cos they live next to and socialise with the fans....

A spurs fan on Barnard -

He is ok. Is a very hard worker and has a very good goalscoring record in the reserves. Im certain he will score goals at the division one level and at a push even in the Championship.

The fans will like him because he puts himself about and never stops working but he always lacked that extra bit of quality for the Premiership imo.

Sounds very good indeed if they are accurate in what they say, I do love T&B! :D

You watch Corrie?

Well Mrs Uxbridge watches it and I'm sometimes in the room at the same time.

Oh who am I kidding. I haven't missed an episode since 1998, take my holidays at the Granada Studios in Manchester and cried for two days after Vera died.

i was actually told today by a friend today we had actually signed this spurs guy. is there any truth in this? nothing mentioned on os. might just be a load bull i've been told

Having read the past few posts - I must say I am pretty shocked at the lack of support you're giving the poor guy. Lee Barnard is a b*oody good player and he definitely doesnt deserve to be slated like that. Dont be so quick to judge, and watch this space.

To be fair, there aren't that many players who have been loaned out to as many clubs as Barnard at such a young age. I would think it got pretty demoralising. A young lad being shunted out to all these different clubs on loan, having to get to know a set of players and a style of play quickly before moving back to Spurs......no continuity, no stability, a nagging sense that maybe he wasn't going to get a prolonged chance at Spurs......maybe his 'lack of effort' or 'lack of goals' is all a mental thing that can be put right with a fresh start here.

Plus the majority of his loan spells, including the one at Orient, were spent being under the age of 20.....scary prospects, not really fully bulked up physically yet....and how many young players have we seen go on loan somewhere, not perform, then move somewhere permanently and be a success? As someone mentioned earlier, Constantine and Kightly both spring to mind.

I'm pretty sure that moving to a club where he definitely feels wanted, settled and stable, and where he'll be playing games, will bring out the best in him. It'll be a refreshing chance for a new start for him after a year or two of stagnation. And I know it's not league football, but a bad player simply does not score 17 goals in 17 apps, then 18 in 19 for a Prem reserve side.

When the lad signs, give him a chance.
