Tilly has always said he will only bring in players better than we already have.

I have yet to see anything official only hear say from the echo and various other unrelaible sources. I have to say that he is on the spurs website as a first team player and his record at prem reserves (possible better than league 1) is unbelievable. I for one would welcome the lad , but i just hope that we still bring in another two aswell.

My point isnt that he is doing nothing, my point is that he is doing everything and with a budget according to Ron Martin of 700k should have signed players. Tilly is not able to attract quality players to this club. Fact. Tilly does not have the nous in the transfer market of other managers. Fact
Tilly has brought Paynter and Foran both **** for a reported 400k . Fact
Tilly has the full backing of the fans (myself included) and the board with finance other clubs in this divison can only dream of, but still does nothing.Tilly needs to set his sights higher and stop trying to sign premier youth or peter taylors tips and start signing players with real games under the belts and start splashing the cash. We are 8th and will not get anywhere this season without at least 2 signings of real QUALITY!!!!
We are the fourth/fifth best supported team in this division with a new ground on the way and money in the bank. You cant get a more stable footing than that. What more does he need?

Whether Barnard is any good or not is to be seen but we need strikers who can be a threat.
None of what we have look capable of scoring more than 5 a season and we have no chance of getting in the top 6 when we rely on midfielders and defenders. (Thats not to say its not good we are scoring from other places).
Look at the difference when Clarke came into the side.
Think we do need a change at centre half and would like to see Richards back in for Clarke, if the rumour he is off isnt true.

I believe there is a 5 day digestion period by which time the buying club has to complete a medical for the player. This is after fees are agreed by both clubs. If the player fails the medical then the agreement between both parties is null and void.

£350k to be precise, don't forget we got £100k back when we sold Paynter to Swindon. I am also guessing we want in the regfion of £75k for Foran too if he were to be sold in this window (unfortunately Darlo can't afford fee/wages for him!)

Arguably, one of the problems we've had with bringing players in is that we've set our sights TOO high and gone after players who were never going to sign for us.

And you've got some fair points there too. This is a hugely frustrating time (especially as we've heard so many of the same reasons before for not signing players) but we were massively unlucky with Walker, Barnard appears to be on his way, and we know we're still trying to bring in some more.

Freddy Eastwood : Signed from Ryman Premier (hardly gonna turn us down) and we did well. Luck or Judgment with Freddy?
Shaun Goater : Was retiring at 36?, but again a good signing. Tried to do the same with rickets and we know what happened there.
Nicky Bailey : Another lower league player, but not a bad player.
Alan McCormack : Not even in the team at preston, so was unlikely to turn us down having been loaned to us when we were in league 2 and given the opportunity to play for another championship side.
Hardly had to beat of competion for any of those players and had to practicaly prize goater away from his retirement,

So you just want to gloss over the good signings then....
Bailey was Barnets player of the season.
Peter Clarke, not on that list, was Blackpools captain.
They are all good signings and we signed them, just because we dont know of any competition doesnt affect that.
Hammell chose us over other clubs as did Foran.....

Oh so its as simple as Clarke being at blame is it ? Thank god we have a good scape goat!
Yeah because them losing the captain they raved about was the key factor in them getting promoted and when Clarke wasnt playing in our team we were winning lots of games werent we.
