Lee Barnard

"Enter number of goals here" goals in his footballing career, the guys "Enter Age Here" and a foward.. not really the goal scoring machine we are looking for is it?

This quote, and many more like it, can be downloaded from the excellent website:

"iknowalotmorethanthemanagerofmyfootballclub.com"

I tend to use the very impressive "anyplayerwesignwillgetslatedunlesshesronaldo.com" myself.

No, mine's better! Here are some of the other gems on offer:

"X" has been banging them in for non-league side "X". Surely he's worth a punt!!

Come on "ENTER NAME OF CHAIRMAN", splash the "ENTER NAME OF RECENTLY SOLD PLAYER FOR HIGH FEE" cash! You know it makes sense!

If Barnard is coming here i'll be happy for one,no matter how much Glasgow stokes up the bad vibes about this lad.
When Crewe came to our place several weeks ago they faced a Southend side who were very confident.Macca,Leon and Gower had been knocking in the goals for fun and we fully expected to win, which of course we did.

But please remember that was a VERY poor Crewe side who also expected to lose.Gradi had recently "moved upstairs" and their new manager was struggling to get to grips with it all, especially with Dario Gradi standing over his shoulder watching his every move. When i looked at their dug-out that day he stood there looking like the "Godfather",fearsome indeed.

So,with all this going on and not knowing whether they would be going out of the Football League as they feared going into administration for the final time, many Crewe fans believed this was to be their final away fixture.

But for anyone who watched what Crewe were doing that day on the pitch would recognise that their best player that day was Barnard by far,he who almost single-handedly led the attack against Southend.
Barrett and Clarke were given a torrid ride in defence as Barnard harried, pushed and shoved, dribbled, played very neat one-two's with his fellow striker and really became a thorn in our side.

For all our dominance that day,Barnard could've had a hat-trick and every attack he fashioned himself with some fantastic movement and work ethic.

Lee Barnard could certainly be a hero at Southend, let's wait and see.

Oi oi oi oi!!!!
There are far worse doom-sayers on here about the potential signing of Barnard than me!

I hope so, I just hope we haven't panicked again like in previous windows and wasted another 6 figure sum on a striker who isn't really any better than what we've already got!

If he indeed has signed good luck to him and welcome to the fold, lets hope he settles in quick and can bring something new to the team.

I agree on this. If he has signed then all well and good and hopefully he can do a job for us but he needs to be given a chance. He hasn't exactly had that much of a chance to settle and if he's here I hope he gets a decent run in the side and isn't targeted by the boo boys from the outset when he doesn't score in his first game.

On the other hand, I wouldn't hold my breath and I reckon that the club will be keeping potential signings to themselves from now on until the formalities of the medical have been completed to prevent a repeat of the James Walker scenario.

Weren't you asking your brother if Lee was signing??

my source is lee Barnard

Have to say, you're the second person I've heard from regarding Lee Barnard. My second source is rarely wrong about these stories, so for me, this particular rumour has just been upgraded in strength from "possible" to "probable". My source tells me he has signed permanently, and not on loan as well.

Well, if Tilly & Brush rate him, that should be good enough for us lot. Fingers crossed, he'll turn out to be a good'un.

:)

He's not in the spurs squad for their reserve game tonight which would suggest he's on the move as they recalled him from his loan at Crewe (and refused to extend it) - to then leave him out of the reserves seems a bit strange unless he's injured.

Signed a 2 '5 year deal , over the moon but can't play tommow night as injuried, NOT HAD A MEDICAL YET though , but should feature next week .

My source ........from a horse that had his mouth open;)

Good spot that.

Give it a few days and we'll find out :p

Oh the irony. This one has been on the cards for a while by the sounds of it!

Being a local lad , it was bound to get leaked at some point , but as he is generally pleased as punch with this move lets hope he can start performing and get the crowd on his side

Yeah i heard about a week back but you cant trust everything you hear, especially during the transfer windows at Christmas. Im guessing he played for Crewe in the FA Cup this season too?!
