Also known for not exactly being the centre of the known universe.  Hence the use by one of the charatcers in Irvine Welsh's "Glue" of the phrase "Get tae Falkirk!" to mean "You're having a laugh, bumpkin-boy!".

I used to spend a lot of time working in Scotland chasing round the countryside in a transit van.

I do remember one night staying in Falkirk at one of the worst hotels I have ever seen!  Not a nice place IIRC!

Agreed. But don't ask for a shandy, whatever you do.
I very much doubt there is any danger whatsoever of Shagster asking for a shandy, is there?

Quote[/b] ]Gower has really cleaned up this year hasn't he, Players POTY, SUSCT POTY, SZ POTY and Goal of the Season,

Just to correct you, Kevin Maher recieved the SUSCT POTY Award, Leon Constantine was 2nd, one point ahead of Mark Gower.

GOTS was Mark Gower against Darlington, 2nd was Jay Smith's 2nd at Canvey and Drewe's goal at home to ColU was 3rd.

Other goals that received votes (in no particular order) were -

Steven Clark against QPR in the LDV
Leon Constantine at ColU
Mark Gower against Canvey at home
David McSweeney against Carlisle at home
Mark Gower against Bristol Rovers in the LDV
Mark Bentley at home to Darlington
Jim Corbett at home to Rochdale
Leon Constantine at Carlisle
Leon Constantine at Hull
Mark Warren at Swansea in the league
Tes Bramble at Orient

yes seriously

but he'll never score a better header, just a pity it was against us

Falkirk has two Scottish League clubs. One is called Falkirk, so no clues there about the whereabouts of the place. The other is called East Stirlingshire, which might be a bit of a giveaway....

Connie's goal against rochdale? Were he just came on as sub and lobbed the keeper from 25 yards near the east stand. The man scored a really tough goal against the o's aswell. i remember thinking he couldn't score the angle was so tight!!!

Quote[/b] (Shrimpergarry @ May 13 2004,10:54)]I think Tilly and Brush are great at building team spirit and for this they will want certain types of players - Wozza, Wilson, Dudfield, Drewe, Bentley and Woody all fit this mould. Could build a strong dressing room spirit which hopefully will mean they will all fight for each other on the pitch. They will also be a good influence on the younger players like Nicky, Hunt, Kightly, Macca, Cort, Connie, Gower etc.
Spot on - when a manager decides who he wants to keep and who he wants to get rid of, there are factors that go beyond what you see on the pitch. I think that Tilly and Brush are fully aware of the attitudes of different players and this will rightly be a major influence on what is decided.

Also, Tilly has been at the club through several seasons where we've suffered badly due to the number of non-triers and semi-talented time-wasters in the team. I can't help thinking that he's going to make team spirit and the desire of a player to earn his wages a key consideration.

It would be a good signing IMO, his contract does expire next month, so it could well be him. Tommy Mooney

If Swindon go up through the play-offs, would he be good enough for First Division football though...

doesn't matter we'd be giving him a two year contract minimum so wether he could play in the 1st division for us doesn't matter

Very good .

An excellent night and the players really seem to be getting on well together.

As mentioned before Jamie Stuart is a top bloke. Ha.

A few of the players got caught (Drewe, Wozza, Stuart - from what i can remember) and had to have piccies with the SZ guys (Naps, Lee, Barry H, Shags, Usual_Suspect, Chadded, Shrek, Me, Durera, Kenny and Andee)

I can only see a few more being released. Depending on Stuart's wages, i hope he stays and i also want Warren and Corbett to be offered deals, but unfortunately, i'm not too hopeful for them. Lets hope this time next year, we're here celebrating promotion ...
