Kacper Łopata Signs!

Our recruitment does seem to be more intelligent for this season.

Whether the players can blend into a team this season is still to be seen. Perhaps it may take some time with a number of players coming up a level. I hope we are in contention come Christmas time.

I have always believed in a strong defence first approach - quite where the goals are going to come from remains an interesting question.

Some more comments from the Sheff Utd forum, rather more varied this time but we should remember that Sheffield United are currently top of the CHampionship and we are a long, long way below that level:

Seems on odd move. I would have thought he could have got a move higher up the pyramid. Maybe the lure of Adventure Island was too great. Gullivers Valley can't compete.

If the lad wants to go back down south there's a ton of clubs who could have come in, but they didn't. He did well at Southend, the fans took to him so GLTTL and to the Shrimpers.....

I have watched him a fair bit and don’t believe he will be anything other than a lower league player, hope the lad proves me wrong but I very much doubt it. There is a reason no club higher up the pyramid has come in for him and he has ended up back at Southend.

Proof the gap between kids football and the men's game is massive. 72 other EFL clubs not in for him.

I can't say what he was like but the fact he has gone back to Southend at least means he will be playing regular football and in two or three years we will see what happens. It may mean he has taken one step back to get regular football and the chance to impress. It also means that there weren't a raft of clubs keen to get him. I would think our club has done really well to get youngsters in the squad whilst keeping a focus on the need to be competing at the top of the Championship.

Sad to see him going, some fans might be criticising him now but I believe he'll be a decent player, I would have much preferred that we'd been able to get him on a long contract and loaned him out but that doesn't seem possible. All the best at Southend, I think he'll be a great asset for them. I notice he didn't say anything about United when leaving, I do hope it's not turned really sour in the end, that would be a shame.

Thank you, Barling - that last paragraph is very telling. I saw him a couple of times late January (the away games at Aldershot and Dover) and he was very commanding. We certainly missed him when he went back to the Blades and I'm both hugely delighted and terrifically surprised that he's committed himself to us for this next leg of his career. It's the most feelgood transfer I can recall for a long time, since perhaps the return of Freddy, and I suspect (all being well), it will go much better.

Nobody should doubt the power of an Essex Girl.
And their ability to dance around a circle of handbags at Hollywoods Romford or Essex Country Club or even Charlie Chan’s which actually counts as Essex!

I’m getting old !

Lopata turned down other Clubs, both abroad and in the EFL, during his spell back at Sheffield United following his loan. So a lot of those comments from Sheffield United fans are wrong.

For a host of reasons, we were always his number one choice for when he left Sheffield United, and I’m delighted (not more than Lopata) that he is back here at long last.

If, as been muted the sell on is 50% I still can't but see that as being great business. You show me a centre back as good as him in league 2 let alone national league. He could help us back into the EFL and that is worth more than any of that 50%.

If he went for £500k in the future say, thats still £220k back on our original investment.
Indeed. We always go for undisclosed fees, so you can moot all you like, but the deal will always be mute.

Well done Ron.
Maybe he can see and feel the feel good factor here at SUFC now, and now wants to be a more of a part of it.
Maybe him seeing the club being run more properly, as a proper football club should be run has made him again want to be more part of it and is trying to do the right thing by the club making amends for his poor leadership over the last 4 years previous.
The best thing Ron ever done was to finally listen to our Stanley Colimore, that was the turning point of this club.
And now as starting to come out, that he and all the others have worked tirelessly to bring Lopata back to our club.

Definite massive credit to @stan collymore

He got Tom Lawrence in, a dedicated, hard working, genuine, talented CEO.

He persisted with stubborn Ron and got him to listen and drop his pride to allow things to be run differently. Not easy!!

He engaged with the fans again when it could not be more separate from the hierarchy.

He influenced bringing in key people like John Still who has transformed the squad.

He brought passion that has transformed the stands and changing room again.

He sold a strategy to the board that transformed the club, redirected the media team and attracted many investors.

He did all this against doubters who said he was full of s##t, only here for himself and money.

How wrong were they!!

Do not underestimate what this great man has done for this clubs dramatic fast turnaround.

👏 👏 👏 👏

It now goes to show that the tree amigos The CEO Stan and like it or not Ron for putting up the money .The only fly in the ointment is The sick note from Wrexham .I do hope he will make me eat my words .But from what wrexham fans have said i wont hold my breath on him keeping fit for to many games .
