Kacper Łopata Signs!

Kev Maher be like UFC fighter Leon Edwards.... "you all said i couldn't do it, well look at me now !"

I stand by my original prediction, we'll win the league. Lots more to come yet, that is a good squad. Wouldn't suprise me if a league striker turned up on loan on Monday now the windows shut.
Welcome home Lopata thats a hell of a signing. There will be no more conceding two goals to the likes of Eastleigh, because thats a massive boost to the squad and will lift them, even if he starts on the bench to begin with. Up the Blues.
Win the league is probably going a bit far. Wrexham have about 4 WOW signings in the last couple of seasons, and pay silly money in wages and bonuses. No club in this league can compete with that. They are the Man City of this league. But yes, in my view the race is on for 2nd place, and Southend have as good a chance as any for promotion. That is very much the aim this season and everyone at the club is on that same page.

If, as been muted the sell on is 50% I still can't but see that as being great business. You show me a centre back as good as him in league 2 let alone national league. He could help us back into the EFL and that is worth more than any of that 50%.

If he went for £500k in the future say, thats still £220k back on our original investment.

Totally agree that if we had to go with as high a sell on as that then it would have been madness to walk away.

It is brilliant news but I’m still amazed. His form here before must have had clubs from L2 & 1 getting very interested, and much as we’d all love to think the lure of the Essex Riviera is impossible to resist, the reality is footballers usually go to either the highest placed clubs or those paying the biggest wages, and I can’t believe we are either. I know he loved it here but it’s a short career and sentiment doesn’t usually come into it. Still, who cares, he’s here and let’s hope he stays injury free and is the same player we had on loan. If so we have the non-league Virgil Van Dyke on our hands!

Spot on imho.

I would compare the deal to when we signed Brett Angell. Tribunal fixed the feeat £100k plus 33% of the profit from that deal. We sold him for £500,000 after 4 years with us and he scored better than one in three: (47 in 115).

It will be interesting to know if the add on is straight percentage of future sale OR percentage of profit on a future sale.

Either way it sits very well with me. If Kacper stays for four years we won't be at this level and definitely won't be below it. It also helps in future deals as if we are talking to other prospective signings whoever is negotiating on the clubs behalf now has in his back pocket:

"and we have the Poland U21 Captain at the club, if he sees us as a viable prospect to develop his career why don't you?"

Saw this as I was travelling home from work. Sensational. All the talk of chants is a bit premature, though. The first thing some of us need to do is learn to say and spell his name...

A reliable source tells me L2 clubs can’t compete with our wage’s.
I’d be very surprised if that were true.

Collin, GSM, Kensdale, Lomas, Miley, Fonguck, Taylor, Husin, Powell, Mooney, Wreh, Hyde, Bridge, Murphy, Wood and Cardwell were all signed from the National League or below. The rest are either academy or were already with us, bar Arnold who I can’t imagine is on silly money.

I don’t think we've recruited harder. Just smarter.
