Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

Really? The mid 70's were the "heyday" of the IRA. The streets are far safer today - and I don't and never will buy into the Islamophobia that can pervade the right.

As for the immigration thing, again I disagree. I'm too young to remember, but I've seen marches by the NF on the news and I'm sure there was just as much fear of those from the Indian subcontinent "ruining" our traditions and history.... It was as much hysterical bullcrap then and it is today.

If Labour carried on being "New" or Tory-lite, as far as I'm concerned they can vanish up their own arses. Fortunately they didn't and now they offer a real alternative.

If your to young to remember what makes you think the streets are far safer today. In Belfast yes in London no. In the last 12 months there has been 6 major terrorist attacks stopped in England. The queen did not attend remembrance Sunday as the threat was so high, although the public were not told the full story.

Hmm, so 9/11, 7/7, Paris (earlier this year), Lee Rigby to name a few were all Scotch mist? Just because you "don't by into it", it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I'm sure you would feel a little different if it was a loved one from your family having their head removed for no good reason. These terrorist groups pose an obvious threat to the world and just because you've decided to bury your head in the sand, doesn't mean everyone else should.

Well, enjoy a Tory led government for the foreseeable then.

10,000 bombings were recorded during the IRA's 29 years of prominence, in contrast we have had 6 'major terrorist attacks' stopped (meaning they didn't even happen) in 12 months. I don't think you can equate a threat every couple of months to the daily threat the IRA bought.

It was the left wing who argued against any action or indeed military spending in the 1930's. Hitler and his Nazis turned out to be a bit more than the odd radical German.

So do you think they will be stopped every time then?

One plan that was stopped a few years ago was to flood the underground with chlorine gas ( easier than you think) death toll would easily top 9/11. Hope you will apologise if they succeed.

I can only assume you are talking about the 2003 arrests relating to a plot to release ricin on the underground because I can find no mention of a chlorine gas plot on the internet. The Sun decided to claim 250,000 people could have died, but that number seemed to have plucked from thin air since ricin has never been used to commit mass killings, only single-person killings (as anyone who has seen Breaking Bad will know). In any case it turned out that the terrorists didn't have ricin after all and the instructions they did have to make it were incorrect anyway, so basically you had 5 people who wanted to commit terrorism but didn't have a clue where to begin. None of them were convicted of conspiracy to commit terrorism and all but one were cleared altogether.

Surely that's counterproductive though isn't it. I can appreciate that the membership has spoken and that many see Corbyn as a breath of fresh air , policy speaking, but surely he should be reaching out to the voters, not just the left leaning side of the party. Every party must surely approach a election with the aim of winning it which confuses me when Labour have chosen someone who will only have limited appeal. It makes little sense to me.

Which is why hardly any of the Labour MP's voted for him.
Didn't Churchill say that the greatest argument against democracy was a five minute conversation with the average voter - or something like that.

Corbyn is going to tackle this relentless wave of Islamophobia head on by continuing to cuddle up to Hamas and Hezbollah and protesting against the Israeli football team playing on British soil. He is a ****ing disgrace and tells me everything I need to know about the left in the UK.

Genuine question Rusty - Are you still permitted to take part in voting in this country?

Yes. And I do. Why do you ask?

I had assumed that you were now Americanised, or whatever it's called. On that basis I didn't understand why you had a large dose of the hump with some British politicians. Now I understand.

Before I retired from the London Fire Brigade I was at a station that specialised in Mass Decontamination. That's means people by the way not accidental chemical spills.

We had 3 large lorries that could be deployed to any terrorist incident in not just London but the whole of Britain. I would have been in charge of setting up potable showers to decontaminate hundreds of people. We even have large portable boilers so the water can be heated, portable traffic lights to control the flow of casualties not traffic and hundreds of packs of spare clothing.

The firefighters will of course all be in gas tight suits. I've even been on courses on how to clean bodies correctly so they can be handed to the police for identification.

Obviously I know people who have very high security clearance ( higher than certain MP's) Its clear the powers that be, do not want the public to have any clue about what could happen and what has nearly happened. Would be very bad for business old boy. Some of the left wing people on the zone would be truly shocked if they new about plans to control the masses in the event of a 'spectacular'.

MK can mock but don't say you were never warned.

They certainly don't, why spook the public for no good reason. I surprised that those that you know, who's clearance was above the normal basic levels, were allowed to discuss what they knew with you, unless you were cleared to the same level. The whole idea of layered security clearance is to be careful with what you know.

MK there is a very significant terrorist threat - Rigsby is quite correct on this. It is not all made up by the right wing press, there is no conspiracy, it is all very real.

I don't doubt there's scum out there who want to kill me & mine with their twisted ideology, however I still believe they are a tiny, tiny minority of the Muslim population of this country.
