Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

Don't think Len is Jewish either but I'm happy to accept his comments on the lack of anti-semitism in the Labour party at face value.

Saw DB on C4 News last night, basically giving a re-run of his Guardian article. He seemed a bit confused about what should be done about KL when asked.

I guess it's difficult to advocate violence whilst being interviewed on TV.

Ken is not anti-Semitic he just lacks sensitivity in his wording

That is a very good point MK, but when in a position when you know you will be quoted/reported/questioned/and worse form of journalism selected wording in reports, you must be prepared with your opinions.
I have met Ken on numerous functions and he is a genuine guy, still hurt by his mayor loss especially as the good work he did for London, but I do not want to get into a political debate, however his good side or down side which ever side of the fence you stand, he shoots from the hip and sometime a stray bullet or two lands on the wrong side and hurts people.
I do think he needs to think before he speaks, but a man of passion can be seen as an idiot, with silly rants,Look at Tony Benn similar in views to KL, but had a calming influence when he spoke and yet with passion and thought

Similar to certain posters on here, they need to take a step back and look at post, rather than reply when the anger is flowing and then they look like complete twerps or worse

If someone dispays anti-semitic views I think it's reasonable to call them anti-Semitic. If he's not, then he's very good at appearing so.

I'm not just talking about now, I'm including previous anti-Semitic rants of his, including blaming the Jewish Chronicle newspaper for his current predicament. According to him this story was only picked up because of them. He's conveniently forgetting that this was reported in the mainstream press for a whole week before the Jewish Chronicle even printed a word - it's (apparently) a weekly paper.

I was referring specifically to the quote from a year ago were he brought the party into disrepute and acted like a gobshite and insensitive but not anti-Semitic.
I don't read the Jewish Chronicle or any religious papers - could you post up a like where he has blamed them please, I'm not aware of what he said there. Thanks.

Here's two for you...one from the Jewish chronicle itself.

thanks

“What caused offence were those people who opened the pages of the Jewish Chronicle and saw the claim I said Hitler was a Zionist, the claim I said Jews were the same as Nazis and one week later the article saying I had said that hating Jews in Israel wasn’t anti-Semitic. None of that is true.”

I think the notion that a report in the Jewish Chronicle on the subject would hold more sway than a report in most national newspapers is valid, to imply that them reporting it is where the drama starts is not valid. They seem to be misquoting him and he seems to be misquoting them. If everyone just stuck to what was actually said rather than editing the words down then the whole think is a lot less likely to be misconstrued. But instead it just goes on and on.

I think this will run on, as I don't think he (Livingstone can help himself) or either avoid / stop commenting / apologize regarding his initial remarks.
Compare that with Naz shah who the chronicle is extremely fair towards.

true, as I keep saying, he is a gobshite and he wants to defend himself against being judged harshly, but in doing so he inevitably leaves more things to be interpreted

When do you expect that Labour will see a recovery in the polls?
no idea, May and her team are displaying incompetence, unaccountability and bad policy as far as I am concerned and though I don't trust the polls the margin for error can't be that wide. Local elections in May (though I'm not actually sure where, not round my way) and Mayoral elections too, they are at least how people vote rather than how a thousand people say they will vote.

We certainly have local council elections here in Cambridgeshire, although I'm never sure how much of a barometer they are (local elections) when it comes to a general election....but agree they are better than polls.
