Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

if he wasn't destroying the political institution that i've been a member of for so long, given so much to, and believed and invested so much in, i'd feel sorry for him.
Poor bloke is so obviously out of his depth and so unsuited to what he's trying to do.
he still looks like he got dressed in the dark and at any moment could ask the PM where he left his glasses or why he came in this room

with all due respect that reads like it was written in the Sun

Whilst I agree he didn't mean to cause any offence and was clearly rattled through out PMQ's, he needs to try and compose himself a bit better - especially when it comes to Northern Ireland...
just watched PMQs and have to agree that was his worst performance for months. He 'wins' PMQs week in week out (crass way of putting it but you get what I mean) and today May was her usual self of giving no answers worth hearing but the one thing she did have to say - that she is now conceding a white paper - clearly threw most of Corbyn's questions out of the window and he was frustrated by that and became repetitive in his delivery. I expect his performance will be up to his usually higher level next week and that May will remain a question dodger.

Yeah I saw it too.Clearly JC was rattled by that first "friendly" question from a Tory MP which allowed Mrs Maybe to promise a white paper on A50.Clearly that took the wind out of Jeremy's sails.Must have been his first question.Clearly he's not as good at thinking on his feet,as Wilson was, back in the day.Unfortunately.

we can allow him an off week I guess, he does boss PMQs every week

Enforcing a three line whip on the Article 50 vote, or at least attempting to, as suggested this afternoon would be the final straw for me.

The most read newspaper in the country? Thanks.
Oh, that was meant as an insult wasn't it. That's usually the way that differing opinions are dealt with by Corbyn supporters in my experience
I'm no more of a Corbyn supporter than I am a Khan supporter and was a Milliband supporter so no point in pigeonholing because that's inaccurate.

I'm a Labour Party supporter and given a choice of Labour under Corbyn, Tories under May or LibDems under Farron then for me Labour are 100 times better than the other options right now.

And Corbyn is the legitimate leader after twice being elected by the Labour membership. He doesn't always deliver 100% of the time but in one on one interviews he comes across better than the other parties' leaders and in PMQs he comes across better than the other parties' leaders and he can also generate enthusiasm when talking to a crowd. On policy I agree with the vast majority of his policies and I would agree with less than half of the Lib Dem policies and a minuscule amount of the Tory policies.

I want Labour Party gains so see no value in infighting. Labour are no more divided than the Tories but they let their divisions take centre stage for a couple of weeks then settled down to pretend to be happy with a leader who says virtually nothing and then back tracks on the little she does say.

By attacking what we have we allow the monstrosity of May's Tories a free reign.

It includes all the polls taken last year including the most recent one (13th-16th Dec) that I mentioned from the Observer which gives the Tories a 7 % point lead.

Perhaps your YouGov poll is a rogue poll? :winking:

Edit.I saw that in a poll of polls recently that the Tory lead was quoted as around 12%.I imagine we could probably agree on that.Expect that gap to close from next week onwards though.

Imagine my surprise to discover, courtesy of a link that you kindly provided, that the Tory lead has actually increased to 16%.

I wonder if this is as a result of the "relaunch".

If you are honestly impressed by Corbyn then, of course, you have a right to that opinion. As I have a right to consider him an absolute disaster.
The only one giving the Tories a free reign is Corbyn and his 'leadership' 'team' who to me seem to be failing in their duties in terms of both scrutiny and providing a potential alternative Government.

I bet a guy at guy at work £10 that we will win both Parliamentary by-elections. That fact that anyone offered me that bet shows how bad a position the Labour party is in. That is not entirely down to Corbyn, it is more accurate to say it is down to the election and re-election of Corbyn

because of the Leave vote in the north some sections of the press have predicted Labour losses so I'm not surprised that someone would take your bet.

Who would you like to see leading the Labour Party? How do you suggest getting around the fact that the membership has voted in the current leadership twice?

Last I heard was the lead was now 12% (from Andrew Neil on the Daily Politics).Sorry don't have a link for that but he's usually pretty well informed.

Polls are arguably pointless, the sample is generally a thousand people, anything other than 'which party will you vote for' often involves leading questions, and in the last GE, the EU referendum and in US polls have failed to predict the results.

In Stoke for example we are told there is a danger of a UKIP win but rather than looking at polls if you look at Nuttall's previous votes achieved in UK general elections for UKIP in Bootle 4.1% in 2005, in 6.1% 2010 and 10.9% in 2015. He is now party leader and UKIP may be thinking this is their last push at achieving something in Parliament before their likely bankruptcy - so that makes a difference, but still his votes achieved in his hometown must be a better indication of his potential now that small sample polls.
